The museum is packed with interesting displays and there are several volunteers eager to make your tour an interesting one, or you can take a self-guided tour and linger over each display as long as you want. Definitely worth visiting!

“Top of the Line Museum”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

Great displays arranged in an interesting and easy to view manner. Excellent staff and volunteers who are knowledgeable and helpful. A wealth of information is located in the Library upstairs. The Museum sponsors and participates in many community activities, including a monthly "coffee call". This is an attraction that Athens can be proud publicize.

Reviewed 3 August 2013

This center is really Quite interesting, Quite full, and you'll spend Quiet a lot of time there! The collections and displays are many and they keep adding to them. History thru-out our ages. The volunteers are there to help you if needed. It is definitely worth the trip to catch up on and review our history.

“A step back into the history of war”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

War times across history link us to freedom! A number of memorabilia is on display here. A self guided tour and access to those who will tell you of the history! Wonderful displays. Nearby park affords you a picnic and Lawler's BBQ offers reasonable price for lunch! Great place to show your children history of war!

“Would make a great field trip”
Reviewed 30 April 2013

We went as a family (all adults) and enjoyed looking through the history of our country's military. All the way through I kept thinking what a great field trip it would be. I particularly liked the diorama. I also enjoyed the section at the end with pictures of Alabama veterans. I thought that was a perfect ending to a great visit. Our guide was very knowledgeable about each section and was able to answer all of our questions
