I work in Auburn from time-to-time. I also drive on I-85 pretty frequently. Chewacla Falls is a great place to stretch you legs for couple of hours. I will sometimes stop here before or after visiting a construction project. The falls are beautiful, and there are numerous cascades as the creek tumbles down the rocks to the valley below.

For a token amount they have great hiking, especially down to the rocks on the river. They also have trails through the woods and places for picnics. My daughter likes to camp out there. Swimming in summer is fun if you like lakes.

Great trails for walking, running, or biking. Cool views of multiple waterfalls. It's perfect for an afternoon getaway and to get some exercise.

Chewacla is definitely a hidden gem in Auburn. Located within maybe 10 miles of Auburn and the University, this park has a lot to offer. For day use, it's only a $3 fee per car for the day. There are various campgrounds and cabins that you have the option of using. If you go all the way to the farthest parking lot within the park, there's several sheltered picnic areas and trailheads. The trails go in several directions and continue for miles. I've gone down there to fish with friends and catch any variety of carp, bass, and catfish. There's a primary swimming rec area where you can rent paddle boats and move around what looks like a small lake. The swimming area is a buoyed off area with a diving platform out in the water that you can swim to and jump off of a couple diving boards. In another area, is the main waterfalls. The small lake above eventually funnels off to this waterfall. It's beautiful multiple-tiered falls with lots of giant boulders to climb around on and places to jump in the water. It can be slightly dangerous to climb around on, but if you're careful, you can have a lot of fun here.

We've been to Auburn many times and for some reason had never heard of this park. There was a nice picnic and playground. Unfortunately, it started to rain so we didn't get to walk down to the lake. We'll have to go back soon.
