“A Comfortable Retreat Off The Beaten Path”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

If you find yourself traveling the 101 Freeway heading south toward LA, but don't want to brave the city itself, you might want to stop at the Sheraton in Agoura Hills. Set on a hillside, away from the hustle and bustle of traffic noise, the hotel is large, comfortable, and boasts a great pool, lively bar, and good eats. The beds are wonderful, and the staff very helpful. Only minutes to dining and other entertainment venues, you are also able to access Malibu just a few minutes drive over the hill. Universal City and Hollywood are only a 20 minutes away, [traffic allowing], and all the other attractions that LA has to offer are easily accessible. Another plus...the hotel is pet friendly!

Stayed at Sheraton Aguoura Hills as part of a wedding party being held at a nearby winery. Despite some earlier difficulties in coordinating room reservations, Javier, at the front desk was able to resolve all problems. He continued doing magic during our entire stay. The rooms were comfortable, clean and well appointed. The view of the hillside was nice (Tip: Ask for room with view.) The only problems were with the refrigerator which either didn't work (not plugged in) or froze everything (setting). These were immediately solved by Ron Lee in maintenance who was attentive, competent and very pleasant. (Hint: don't put a Do Not Disturb sign on your door and expect maintenance to come in even if you are away.) The pool was pleasant with lots of chairs and umbrellas, but not many towels. Lots of wedding parties celebrating before/after at the bar but no problems. Ate in restaurant for breakfast and it was good. Lots of places to eat and shop nearby and close to the highway. No complaints from anyone in our party. They should include free WiFi in the rooms. Overall, an excellent experience.

Room Tip: Fourth floor rooms (450-462) had nice views of shaded hillside. Stay away from rooms facing ugly wa...

The staff and accommodations were wonderful as we used the Agoura Hills Sheraton for home base for our son's wedding rehearsal dinner. Jodi was absolutely a dream to work with and a fun gal! She made it a breeze and helped us through the process from the quote to the contract to the payment. She also was available during the dinner to make sure it flowed well. From all accounts the guests said it was lovely and went well too. Also a shout out to the support staff, Carlos and the two kind ladies who assisted (I'm sorry I don't remember their names).

Jen, Philippe, Gia and others at the front desk were so accommodating and great to work with too.

Christian at the bar made the best Lemon drop martinis for my wife she's had ANYWHERE! Made from fresh lemons! He made all kinds of great martinis for the guys as well.

Jennifer was our server for the mornings several times. She was so entertaining! We loved her, but just as a recommendation, get on her good side early on or she'll put you in your place very quickly, in a funny way. (Demanding customers need not show up!). The omelet buffet was excellent and we recommend the restaurant.

The facilities were very good and the location was quiet just off the 101 freeway (no freeway noise that we could hear).

All in all we had a great experience and would highly recommend this hotel and will return there if we ever find ourselves needing a hotel in that area again!

Room Tip: Plenty of parking, accessible to freeway and to local business and amusement venues.

This was a particularly friendly, welcoming staff. Felipe was just a wonderful human being. The room was very nice, with comfortable beds. The location is great and even though it's by a freeway we didn't hear any noise. Lovely grounds and pool. Room 217 needs the green chair replaced. It looks pretty beat up. It also had a refrigerator, coffee machine which was very handy.

Room Tip: We had a view of the front parking lot. I believe the rooms in the back would have a view of the gr...

We recently stayed for 3 nights on the club floor. They offer breakfast, evening appetizers, and desserts in the club lounge. We went for dessert one night and they only had one item to choose from. The room was ok, beds clean and comfy. There is a nice lounge area downstairs that had a bar and also space to work. The location was convenient...right off the highway. Overall a decent place to stay. Would recommend.

This location is unbeatable - however, hotels abound in Agoura. All hotels are relatively close to 101. The Sheraton is one block away and has less noise, as well as a green, lush landscape. We had a room with 2 double beds.

The room was uncomfortable, primarily because there is a single chair in the room. When you come back from hiking or swimming, and you want to relax a bit one of you can have the chair and the other has to wallow on the bed. With only one chair and one small side table, it is difficult to spread out your stuff to pack after a several day stay.

There is one bathroom and no service sink outside it. There are no hooks - it is impossible to dry your stuff after using the pool or coming back from swimming in the ocean or in one of the lakes in the nearby nature reserve. With no openable windows and no bathroom fan, the maximum draft that can be created in the room cannot dry a bathing suit in 3 days, let alone in a few hours. The sun shines outside, but the windows are sealed.

The room does not have a microwave oven - as mentioned in the description, it is possible for them to install a microwave oven in your room, but there is little space to place it on! It will go on your desk, where it will take some of the already scant usable surface.

All in all, this room is okay for one-night single business travelers, but is not comfortable enough for couples or families who are going to stay a few days, use the pool, hike around, have all kinds of luggage, and go to the beach.

Internet is free in the lobby and for pay in the room ($10/day).

The pool is nice and has a comfortable seating area surrounded by trees.

The carpet in the hallways must have won a contest for ugliness sporting bright colors like lemony yellow, red, and pink, in a revoltingly ugly pattern.
Throughout, the carpets are dirty and the baseboards are filthy.

The sheets are clean but not made of cotton. The percale that covers the blankets is itchy.
The towels are clean but have seen a lot of washing cycles. The bathroom is clean and the faucets work well. The shower has a thermostatic control.

The staff is very nice and helpful.

Nearby there are: Trader Joe's, Vons, Sprouts, Panera Bread, Target.

Room Tip: Call and ask which rooms have openable windows - it looks like the junior suites have them. They als...

Green Features: There is a recycling bin in the room. There is a 'green choice' for housekeeping - you may opt out of the daily housekeeping routine. You have a choice to have the sheets changed or not.

We stayed here while in the area for an engagement party in Thousand Oaks. The location was very convenient,,the rate was reasonable, and there were no parking fees. The bed was comfortable, the grounds beautiful set into the hills, and attractively landscaped. We had a balcony with lovely views as well. Staff was friendly and helpful.
