We chose this hotel since we got it at $99 per night - a steal for the San Diego area. The rooms are nice and fairly large. The continental breakfast leaves much to be desired. The place isn't as "country quaint" as the pictures look on their web site - the property is nicer than usual but isn't exactly in a "woodsy alpine" location. It is in a shopping center right next to the highway. There are many restaurants and stores located within very short walking distance. The drive back and forth to San Diego is easy and takes about 25 minutes. We stayed there for five nights and did the drive each day on our vacation. It isn't a resort - only a motel with outside access rooms. There are no plants in the room as the picture on their web site suggests.

Alpine is a cute little town and the Country Inn was a nice place to stay. We arrived at night and it appeared the motel was in a strip mall. This seemed sort of tacky. The stores near by proved to be helpful as I forgot my allergy pills. The room itself was clean and very large. The staff was very nice and suggested a great little mexican resturant that was sooo good as well as very cheap. Check out the casino and outlet mall near by. Breakfast at Janet's Montana Cafe was good.

Room was ready and clean upon arrival. King bed, quiet and total cost under $100.00 inc all fees. Would definitely recommend to other guests.
Beautiful setting in the Cleveland National Foreast area.

The non-smoking rooms were used as smoking rooms, it took us three times to get a real non-smoking room. The bed was terrible, hurt my back, the springs were poking me. The towel rack fell of, the toilet ran and the carpet had a iron burn mark on it.

Never stay here.

We were looking for somewhere to run away to (from Los Angeles) in mid-November 2004. The Ayres Hotel chain had a 1/2 off promotion, and Alpine seemed the most attractive of their choices to relax and do nothing in. The hotel was a nice surprise, as was the area. No complaints about the Country Inn. Pool and jacuzzi are enjoyable. Rooms are not luxurious, but clean. Viejas Casino is 3 miles away, with its attractive Southwest themed outlet stores, and Sycuan Casino is 10 miles away. Alpine itself is beautiful; a quaint and rustic mountain town with surprisingly excellent food. Don't miss the Alpine Inn restaurant!

The rooms are a nice size. A refrigator in each room. No restaurant on the premises, but 3 or 4 close by. Off the freeway interstate 8. Buses carry you to two casinos.
