“A fun and enjoyable stay”
Reviewed 29 August 2011

To celebrate my daughter's 4th birthday, we stayed at the PPH. It was our first stay. We checked in early and got into our room by 12:30pm. Since it was my daughter's bday, she received balloons, a pin and a 8"x10" b/w photo of Disney princesses. As part of the summer promotion, we received 2 fastpasses each.

The staff is friendly and attentive. They have a upbeat attitude. Our standard view room was located on the same floor as the pool. This is convenient when you have 3 kids. We didn't find the elevators to be slow or troublesome as some reviewers wrote. Our view was of CA Adventure but we weren't high enough to watch the World of Color show from our window. Room is good enough for a family of five. We had two queen beds and a couch that turns into a bed. It's not like a typical sofa bed.

The pool area was well stocked with towels. We enjoyed the slide and swimming in the pools. The walk to CA Disney Adventure was less than 10 minutes if you cut through the Grand California Hotel. The walk to Downtown Disney was 5 minutes. Free wi-fi is available and it worked well.

We didn't eat at the hotel. We ate at Downtown Disney, and went to the restaurants on Harbor Blvd. We brought water and snacks and stored them in the room's mini-fridge. Surfboard-shape rice crispy treats were delivered to our room. The kids really didn't like them, but I did.

We utilized valet parking and it cost $22 per day. After check-out, Bell Services stored our luggage while we made one more trip to the Parks.

If you're on a budget and want to stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel, PPH is it. We had a wonderful stay that we can't complain about. We've stayed at the Grand Californian and it's grand in every way. But you have to pay more for that grandness.

Room Tip: Get a 3rd floor room if you want to be on the same floor as the pool.

Loved this hotel! The pool was a good size and there was a kiddie pool, hot tub, and waterslide. The pool deck was the perfect place to watch the Disneyland fireworks and they placed the music through the speakers for you. Our room overlooked the California Adventure Park where we had a great view of the World of Colors show and the music was loud enough for us to hear with the windows open (although you could also hear it with the windows shut at 10:15pm). There was a fridge in the room and a nice pull out sofa. I wish their sink area was separate from the toilet and shower like the Disneyland hotel is set up. The character breakfast was very fun--a must do. Beds were nice and the room was spotless. The next time we're back at Disney this will probably be my first choice for hotel (the Grand Californian is nice but typically much more expensive). Disneyland Hotel is also a great choice but I like the 'personality' of this place better.

I stayed here with friends and my son for a trip to Disneyland and California Adventure. We stayed for three nights. The hotel is clean, has nicely appointed rooms if a tad small (we had two queen beds, 1 trundle) and has a zippy surfboard / beachy theme. It is right across the street from California Adventure and access to Disneyland is within just a few minutes walking distance through the luxurious Grand Californian Hotel. The maid service was prompt and friendly leaving extra bottles of toiletries cheerfully since we had a group of 5 in the room. We also received delicious surfboard shaped rice krispies treats with white chocolate frosting the first night. The concierge room on the 2nd floor offers free breakfast and afternoon snacks for an extra fee. There are other more luxuriously appointed hotels but for the value and the package we had, it was a perfect place to stay for a nice bed to sleep in after a long day at the parks.

Our family LOVES to go to Disneyland. We have 2 daughters and a son, all with varied interests, so it has been difficult to find a vacation where everyone is entertained and having fun. Disneyland has never disappointed.
Over the years we have tried a variety of hotels, and have found Paradise Pier to be the best value. YES, you pay a premium to stay in a Disneyland property, but the extras are SO WORTH IT!

#1. You are never without that wonderful Disney touch ... clean, themed, and friendly.
#2. There is No Messing about with line ups for trams or shuttles. The walk to the parks is short (via the Grand Californian and Downtown Disney). OR you can use the monorail. This makes it easy to be flexible with your days. Somebody need a midday nap or swim? No problem!
#3. This summer the special FASTPASSES (2 for each of us) made a HUGE difference to our park enjoyment. When the regular FASTPASS distribution was closed, we could still get on the ride. (Use these wisely as you only have two ... I recommend them for Star Tours, Space or Splash Mountain)
#4. If you are a family of 5, like we are, you can all stay together in one room!! SO Economical and FUN.

If $$$ are no concern for you, consider The Grand Californian for it's premium location OR The Disneyland Hotel for it's new pool (but check when construction will be done ... sometime later this year or early 2012).

Yes, it's more expensive. But to be on-site, immersed in the Disney Experience was worth it to us since we don't take many vacations like this and we had planned and saved for it! Nice, big rooms, very clean, just a short walk to the California Adventure Private entry, or through Downtown Disney into the parks. We opted for the concierge level and were impressed with the value we received from that service: Breakfast, snacks, drinks, waters, wine & beer, light dinner, desserts, internet access, printing access, private check-in, someone available to answer any questions and help with any reservations (even off-site reservations), nightly turn-down service with chocolate coins, great view of California Adventure and incredibly comfortable bedding -- well worth it for our family of four. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary as well and, upon returning to our room after an incredible dinner at Nappa Rose (Chef's table), found rose petals strewn on the floor and in a heart-shape on the bed and our teenage girls' bed had also been 'fluffed up!' My husband, traditionally not a huge 'Disney Guy,' changed his mind after this trip (and after experiencing & comparing other parks in the area) and agrees that Disney just does it better. Yes, the elevators may be a little slow, but we really never had to wait that long -- certainly not as long as some of the lines we waited in at the parks! We'd stayed a few years ago at an off-site hotel that was beautiful, but a 20 minute walk to (and from!) Disneyland, and just never felt quite as involved in Disney as we did with this trip. Highly recommend the Paradise Pier and want to go back!!

I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were large, comfy bed and a short walk to the parks and downtown Disney. Had a quick breakfast at the small cafe. Nice is not interested in the pricey character breakfast. My only complaint would be the need for more elevators. Will definetly stay again.

We had decided to use our DVC points for a last minute surprise trip to Disneyland for our kids. Service, quality, and location are all top notch. Check in was a breeze and our kids even got balloons! Our room wasn't quite ready, so we enjoyed early entry into California Adventure and got a text about 11am that our room was ready.

Our room had 2 queen beds, a pull out couch that fit my 4 yo perfectly, and a Graco pack n play for our baby. There was a fridge, desk, chair, and plenty of room for the kids to relax and play. We had a great view of California Adventure and the kids even watched World of Color from the room with the music playing on the TV.

Our only complaint would have to be the elevators. It took a while to find an elevator that was empty enough would fit our stroller... Lots and lots of patience.
