We stayed in October 2013. After a long day at Disneyland and California Adventure, it was so nice to be able to walk a short distance back to our hotel. We didn't even use our car the four days that we stayed! The hotel staff were so friendly and nice. We were fortunate to be "upgraded" to a view of California Adventure, and it was wonderful to see at night! My children loved seeing California Adventure light up at night. We were so busy with Disneyland, that we didn't get to enjoy the amenities, but they looked lovely! The room was clean, beds comfortable, and the housekeeping does a great job! The elevators were very slow, but that is my only complaint. P.S. The restaurant downstairs makes THE BEST margaritas ( and after a day at the park with four children, trust me they much needed)

Room Tip: Ask for a view of California Adventure

We decided to take an overnight trip to Disneyland and wanted to stay close to the park so we could walk back and forth.
The only room type left on short notice was a park view concierge room with a fabulous view of California Adventure.
I think they need to work with their valet parking attendants because no one was around when we pulled up and we were not sure what was going on.
But check in was quick, easy and efficient. Our room was ready so we were able to take advantage of early entry to Disneyland.
The concierge lounge was great and we had a nice continental breakfast the next morning before we left.

Room Tip: Be sure to get a park view room on a higher floor if you can.

Being huge Disney fans, I was keen to stay at both the Grand Californian and the Paradise Pier hotel. (We have previously stayed at the Disneyland Hotel) We stayed at the Paradise Pier Club Level for 4 nights after an 8 day stay at the Grand Californian. Whilst a pleasant hotel, it does not compare to the Grand Californian in terms of convenience and cost. The Paradise Pier was around two thirds of the cost of the Grand Californian a night. If you can manage the cost stay at the Grand Californian.

Club Level was good, but not exceptional. The room is quite dull, with no outside windows and only a skylight. In comparison to the Grand Californian, the pool was disappointing. The room was a reasonable size, but the sinks were inside the bathroom/toilet area. This meant that in the mornings, we needed more time to get ready, as only one person could use the bathroom at a time. The beach ball pillow left on our bed had a dirty brown mark on one side, which was unappealing.

The staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful as they are at every Disneyland Resort I've visited.

Overall, whilst a nice hotel, it doesn't have the "disney magic" that the Grand Californian and Disneyland Hotel have. For my family, the next time we visit Disneyland, if we can't afford to stay at the Grand Californian we will stay down the road at the Howard Johnson Anaheim.

We had two nights at Disney's Paradise Pier in September whilst we were in California for our honeymoon. Our room was gifted to us by family members who are Disney Vacation Club members, and they made sure that our 'Just Married' badges were waiting for us at the front desk! The staff at the bell desk saw the badges and immediately comped our valet parking, and the badges were commented on and complimented throughout our stay. The room was fun, but not 'too Disney', we especially liked the beach ball cushions! The in-room coffee maker and fridge were nice touches, and the Disney-themed toiletries were great. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable - which is just what you need after a long day at Disney. The room was also very quiet and peaceful, even though we overlooked the pool. The Disney parks are just a short walk away, and we used the guests-only entrance via the Grand Californian to access California Adventure on day 2. I asked my husband for his thoughts on the hotel for this review and he only had one word: "amazing", and I think that's probably a good point to round this up!

Stayed 16 October to 27 October 2013, with family of four in a concierge level theme park view room - room 1418. Room was beautiful. Understated Disney so it was not a Mickey overload. Very comfortable beds, fantastic housekeeping service and staff were helpful and obliging in every respect. View of California Adventure Park was to die for. Spectacular!
Short and Comfortable walk to the parks and Downtown Disney through the Grand Californian and tour buses/transfers pick up from out front. Also close to other restaurants in the area - when we got tired of the bagels, Danishes and cold cereals etc available free to concierge level guests in the Beachcomber room on the second floor.
Had heard that the elevators were slow - did not find this a problem at all. The only issues we had were in the guest laundry - 8 dryers but only 4 washing machines and other guests monopolising all machines at once and "Stealing" the guest laundry baskets for their entire stay, so others had to find alternative ways of carrying clean clothes back to the room (we used our Disney shopping bags).
Each level has drink machines, however, they are not chilled so you have to take ice back with you if you you want to drink it right away or put it in the fridge.
Attended a character breakfast in the PCH Grill. Buffet breakfast with table visits by several characters except Mickey- who only participates in dancing with the children in the restaurant periodically. Stitch, Daisy Duck, Minnie Mouse and Pluto visited our table for photos. We all enjoyed them but the food was not worth the charge of $30 per adult plus mandatory 18% tip - as we were a family of four adults, $120 plus tip. Was a bit rich and the choices were nothing to rave about- standard eggs ,bacon, sausage etc.
Needed to buy new TSA luggage locks for the two suitcases we had to buy because we shopped til we dropped! Nowhere in the hotel, or the entire resort, actually sold luggage locks or reasonably priced and sized suitcases so we had to walk seven blocks to target for the suitcases and wait until we got to the airport to buy the locks.
Not a reflection on the hotel itself, but it was also quite annoying that guests were subjected to bag searches whenever they left the Downtown Disney area for the area between both Disney Resort Parks as well as upon entry to either park?
Despite this, we thought the hotel was great, however, would not do the theme park view again as once you've seen it, it's enough and you don't spend much time in the room. We also found that you could not really see anything of value in the World of Colour show from the room as they face the back side of the show, so you only seen the water colour changes and hear the music on the tv, but do not see the superimposed holograms on the water jets. Next time we will try the Grand Californian as it looks awesome, but would not hesitate to return to Paradise Pier either - would just opt for concierge level (for access to the breakfast room as this was good value) but not pay extra for the view.

Room Tip: Choose the concierge level if you can afford it but save on the extra for the theme park view as you spend so little time in the room.
