“Amazing place to stay”

This is such an amazing place to say if you're visiting Disney! The bathroom is a bit small for the price, but everything else makes up for it. It's so close to the park and the staff and level of service are awesome. The pool is enjoyable and the piano player inside the hotel makes for an enjoyable time just sitting in the lobby. The restaurants are also very delicious!

I think this was our 5th stay at this hotel. The reason we return? Location, location, location. With the September promotion we got a good price on the room and early entry each morning. With early morning entry we were able to get on the Radiator Springs Racers at Cars Land three times during our stay in a fairly fast line.

We didn't realize with a 5pm flight arrival to the airport the Disneyland Express only runs every hour. We missed it by a few minutes so we had to wait about 50 minutes for the next to arrive. Got to the Hotel and were greeted by bellman waiting to assist us with our luggage. Check in was a breeze, we were upgraded to a room overlooking the rides at California Adventure. Great view from our balcony of the World of Color show, unfortunately one of the other guests enjoyed the show by smoking on their balcony. We had to go in because the smoke was coming into our room.

Enjoyed breakfast in our room each morning. We split the fitness breakfast for one (I think that was the name). Huge bowl of oatmeal, fresh fruit, muffin, juice, coffee.

Our group of nine enjoyed the lobby bar every evening, great service.

Pros:
-Early access to parks each morning was great
-Can't beat walking right from your room to the entrance of California Adventure or Downtown Disney in a few min.
-Comfortable beds

Cons:
-Check the coffee makers, ours still had remains from the previous guests
-The rooms are way too dark, add some lighting please! Felt like we were in a cave and couldn't see to read
-People smoking on the balcony of their room (yes I called management)

We just got back from a 4 day 3 night stay at the Disney Grand California Lodge. Let me start by saying this is the most we have ever spent on a hotel stay and that includes the luxury 2 bedroom condo we rent in Hawaii. Upon arrival we were awed at the lobby and the service by the check-in staff and valet staff. Then we arrived in our room! I went into this reading all of the reviews and knew the rooms were nothing to brag home about but seriously they are a huge disappointment. We had a nicer room at the Best Western Meridian down the street for around $100 a night as opposed to the nearly $400 a night spent here. I think what I was most disappointed with was the missed opportunity by Disney to make this room truly kid friendly and memorable. Give me a real portable crib, kid toiletries, a step stool for the potty and sink or a little potty and sink, give me hot chocolate mix for the kids, coloring books/ crayons, a stuffed animal, a little robe for the kids…give me ANYTHING that would make this room special for a kid. You get NOTHING! I mean at the very least I expected a TV channel that played Disney movies all day but nope what you get is some cheap princess bedtime story channel that is a repeat so after you watch one you are done. The only special thing provided was a couple of chocolates left in the room for when you arrive back at your room after your day at Disney. Now while the thought is in the right place it still misses its mark. I have just spent an attire day in the park arguing with my little one about not having every sugary item imaginable and now we are finally back in the room hoping to head to bed and there are Chocolates to now argue about. Come on leave me a little carton of milk and a banana!
BUT after all this disappointment I do have to day that with my 2.5 year old we did get to see more of the parks because of the early entry and the ability to come and go as we pleased. So all in all we are glad we stayed here for that convenience but we will not be staying again as when we come back our kidos will be older and we will not have to come back for naps and rest time. One tip you have to pay $25 to self-park your vehicle…splurge the extra $5.00 for valet, it is worth the extra money for the convenience of having your vehicle out front anytime you want it. But do make sure to have plenty of ones as the valet help will linger and make you feel like total crap if you don’t have a tip for them.

We arrived at the Grand Californian the week after Labor Day with high expectations. The room prices was signicantly higher than other good hotels around the Disneyland Resort, but we really wanted to stay "on campus" so we were ready to pay the price. In fact, we spent an extra $300 for our four night stay to have a room looking out over the California Adventure Park. Well, ithe hotel and the entire experience actually exceeded our expectations. The hotel's public areas are spacious and beautiful. The lobby is especially nice. There are multiple pools and some lovely grounds around them. Our room was comfortable for our family of four, including two college age children. We had two queen beds, a couple of chairs, a small refrigerator, and a balcony with two seats and a small table. One minor annoyance was the wall on the balcony is a bit high, which makes it a bit difficult for short people to see the park when seated. The conenience of the Grand Californian as a base for doing the parks and Downtown Disney is really great. We frequently used the gate behind the whitewater raft ride to go back to our room for a beak. Plus we were able, as guests, to enter the parks an hour earlier than the regular park visitors (magic hour). We found the staff friendly and helpful. One tip on housekeeping, if you want it to be done before afternoon, you should call guest services and request. We self parked in the lot across the street from the hotel (about a five minute walk). There is also valet parking

This was our first time at The Grand Californian, and it was absolutely fantastic. Disney is all about customer service. From check in, to bell service, and housekeeping. We were truly impressed. We would definately stay again.

It was my grandaughters birthday and we decided to take her to Disneyland. We also decided that we wanted to make this a "trip to remember" for her. We opted to stay at the Disney Grand California hotel in Anaheim, Ca. Wthen we arrived at the paking lot entrance we were greeted and treated well. The attendant at the gate acknowledged us and even though when we made the reservations letting them know it was her birthday, she greeted my grandaughter by name. That made a lasting impression on her, That, and that Mickey wanted to see her at his place in the park. The hotel staff was excellent and everything was as described. The room was fantastic as was the service. Although very expensive, it was one of those "once in a life time" trips that truly left an impression.

This is my third stay. The bell service is nonexistent when you arrive via Disneyland express. They stand and watch you struggle with bags and kids across the driveway to the entrance. This has happened every visit.

Check in takes a very long time and is not until 3. We were early and our room was not ready so they said they would text but my phone was dead (they did take and charge my phone). I was told to come back after 3. So we checked our bags at the bell desk and went to the park. We came back at 4 hoping to shower before our 5:30 dinner reservation. It was very hot and we were sweaty. At 4:10 only 1 room was ready (we had 2). They said they would call and text when second room was done. They never did we just tried key and found it ready. With 5 people traveling we did not get to shower before dinner.

Our room overlooked downtown Disney. You can see most the fireworks but you have very loud music from 7am-11:30pm in downtown Disney. You can hear the songs clearly along with live music, the tram honking and people. Plus you pay more because you can see fireworks. I would recommend the cheapest room facing courtyard if you want quiet to sleep.

Also if you do not want to tire your feet out getting from your room to the elevator ask for one close to an elevator. We were about 2.5 city blocks from it.
