We stayed in February 2014, which is off-season and did not want a room with any special views. We paid $250 a night for a king with pull out couch and a view of trees towards the entrance driveway. I had no plan to spend much time in the room, so I didn't care what we could see outside. I think the price is about right for a decent hotel in So Cal. I think people who complain about the price of rooms are from parts of the country where hotels are considerably less expensive.

Room was fine. Our kids are 3 & 5, and we were a little crowded, but again, not a lot of time in the room. Walls are a little thin. You can hear housekeeping vacuuming & moving carts & furniture very easily. If someone is in room next door, you hear each others voices. But I feel more sympathy for people in the room next to us and my crazy loud kids!

The big reason for staying here is location to the parks. You can walk right into California Adventure from the 1st floor of the hotel and it is a very short walk to the entrance to Disney. One night we even took the monorail from Disneyland to Downtown Disney and that was very convenient back to the hotel rather than going back through the whole park again.

It's nice to have additional restaurants right outside the door in Downtown Disney.

Staff was very nice to us. Valet service was helpful in storing bags until our room was ready. Front desk accommodated our request for a room with a king bed instead of 2 doubles and then sent a text when the room was ready. No lines to check-in. Anytime was were just standing in the lobby, someone always asked if we needed help. Haven't stayed at the other 2 hotels on property. This one looked the nicest, although I hear upgrades to Disneyland hotel are nice. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Just be prepared to walk. Might want to see if you can be a little close to elevators? We walked a...

We have visited Disneyland many times but this was our first time staying at the Grand Californian. If you're flying in be prepared to pay for transportation to the hotel (no shuttle is provided). We used the Disneyland Express ($35 per adult, Kids under 11 free round trip). After arriving, the concierge shared that there is an agreement with some taxi companies for $35 one way per family. Wish we had known this sooner.

The lobby of the hotel is fantastic. We were greeted by employees at every turn. There was no wait time for registration and our room was prepared for us on arrival (4pm on a Friday).

Our family had the courtyard view room. The room looks very much like most hotel rooms do. The decor was lovely with hints of Disney and hidden Mickeys on the carpet. I was initially concerned about the noise from the monorail but was quickly comforted by the fact that you cannot hear courtyard noise with the sliding door closed.

The room was one of the cleanest I have stayed in! The housekeeping clearly takes pride in their work.

The location of the hotel makes the cost almost worth it. You can literally walk from the park straight into the hotel! This made breaks from the park and the late nights easy. Be sure to take advantage of the wake up call feature (little ones will love hearing the characters call to wake them up).

I don't know how often we will be able to stay at this location as the price is so high (even in the off-season, if Disney has an "off-season"). If I was visiting Disneyland for the first time or visited rarely, I would certainly consider this hotel to complete the whole Disney Experience. The hotel gets high marks for friendliness of employees (Or "cast members"), cleanliness and ambiance, but loses a point for the high price of the fairly typical looking hotel room.

We stayed here for a Disney symposium and it was a fabulous experience! The hotel and rooms were beautiful, service was impeccable and the location can't be beat.....

After our meetings, it was an easy walk right into the Park!

Simply stunning lobby and grounds, -- easy access to all attractions ... EXCELLENT service.
Unfortunately, one glitch. A huge one, -- for us. The smoking policy! The "Smoking Allowed Areas" are in the absolute worst places. One is the entrance to the pool area. The stench from the smoke is overwhelming. Just walking from the Lobby to the pool, you need to take a deep breath and HOLD until you get into the pool area. At any given time there are at least 10 smokers puffing away. (Including cigars.) There are so many more remote areas where they could allow smoking. We had a room above the smoking allowed area ... FIVE stories above ... yet the smell of smoke permeated our balcony and room. ~ Put quite a damper on the ambiance of our incredible room and view.

When this so called "non-smoking" hotel changes this policy, we will be back. Again and again. Until then, -- no way. This could easily be a Five Star hotel. We choose non-smoking hotels for a reason. We do not want to breathe in second hand smoke (or deal with that awful smell.) To have to endure smoke in a non-smoking hotel ... not okay.

Room Tip: Check the map. If you do not like the smell of cigarette smoke, make sure your room is not over a S...

We stayed 3 nights at this property and it was well worth it. The interior decor was beautiful. The Craftsman style decor was stunning. Staying here you can access the California Adventures park from the hotel and you can also take advantage of the "Magic Hours". This was worth it alone. We were able to come back to the hotel very quickly from the park in order for our toddler to take a nap and she fell right to sleep on the comfy beds. Each room comes equipped with a pack n' play crib so you don't even need to ask for it. The property has an entrance to Downt Town Disney where there are many places to eat. You should call ahead and make reservations because they are always booked. The restaurants in DTD were the Rainforest Cafe, The House of Blues, The Jazz Kitchen and the ESPN restaurant to name a few. We got lucky at the ESPN restaurant and got in at 8pm. Everywhere else there were no openings until 9pm. We also made reservations through the hotel for the Blue Bayou Restaurant in Disneyland. Those were made a couple of months in advance. Our room was on the 2nd floor and it faced CA Adventures' children's rollercoaster. The sliding glass door to the balcony was sound proof. You could not hear the rollercoaster. Unfortunately the interior walls were not. But you have to expect lots of families with crying babies early in the morning and late in the evening. the housekeeping staff does a turn down service and they leave chocolates on your pillow. The service was great. They brought up extra towels upon request in a jiffy. The only thing that would have made this better is if they would have provided a free airport shuttle. The guest services desk did not tell us it was not free and what you read on the website leads you to believe it is free but it is not. Not too bad though, it was $20 pp to John Wayne Airport (Orange county) It was on time and got us to the airport rather efficiently.

We stayed at a different hotel on Disney property and sure wished we had stayed here instead. Absolutely stunning Craftsman interior. We had breakfast two mornings sitting by the fireplace in the main lobby.
