The hotel was very nice. The rooms were way over priced and small the beds were comfortable and the pillows were kinda hard. The bathroom was nice and there was plenty of shampoo and soap. The turn down service was nice and the chocolates were a plus. The lobby was large and comfortable and the hotel employees were very nice. The gift shop like the rooms was way over priced. The restaurants were good the storyteller cafe had a character breakfast and the Napa rose provides a good atmosphere for a nice dinner and the Whitewater snacks was nice due to how close it was to the pool good for a grab and go meal. The pools were very nice and good size one has a tree slide for kids. Something i was surprised i didnt find at this hotel was game room since its a disney property there was one but was replaced with a large spa and fitness room. The hotel also provides a tunnel for guests only to California Adventure park and they also provide a entrance for everyone to downtown disney which was convient. So overall the hotel was very nice and the trip enjoyable

We love this hotel and have stayed on each of our trips to Disneyland in the past few years. We just spent four nights, checking out on Easter Sunday. The location is astoundingly good. And the location is great. Have I mentioned the location? You are right next to Disneyland and Downtown Disney and can actually walk into California Adventure from the hotel. The pools are nice, the restaurants are convenient and very good, the architecture is lovely (it is a slightly fake - in a Disney way - version of the Ahwahnee without any actual timber) and the castmembers are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are fine - not as motel-ish as some reviewers here suggest, nor are they worthy of the hotel's four stars. The wallpaper is cheap-looking, but the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are fine. We like the separation of toilet/shower from the sinks, which are outside the bathrooms. Our only real complaint about the rooms is that they are very dark. But you are only sleeping there, so it is no big deal. We have stayed in a standard bedroom with bunkbeds and a queen bed (this is the best set-up with small children) and recently stayed in a one-bedroom suite with a fold-out couch and a bedroom with two queen beds because we had a fifth person with us. The bed in the fold-out couch was awful (she slept on the floor), so next time, I think we would just get two rooms and save on the suite premium, which was substantial. This last trip was also the first time when we found the hotel looking quite worn. The ottoman in the living room was so dirty (mostly from a child's coloring, I think) that we asked them to take it away to be cleaned. It came back clean two days later after a couple of phone calls. They also completely missed turndown service one of the nights and came another night after we had already put the kids in bed. Housekeeping was a weakness on this visit. But those are really only minor complaints. Although we were not on the Craftsman Club level this time (no one-bedroom suites on that level), we did pony up the extra $150 per night to get concierge service and access to the Craftsman Club. The storytelling and snacks and songs are wonderful - a great end to a day in Disneyland. But all of this gets to the cost. It is an exceedingly expensive hotel - we're talking Ritz Carlton prices for a hotel that is not close to "Putting on the Ritz." (AND, they charge $17 per day for valet parking when you don't see your car for four days - that one burns me.) But then you have the incredible allure of the location (for example a 2:00 p.m. nap every day does wonders by parade time when yours are the only kids who aren't having a meltdown). And it is a very nice hotel - just not a four star. So we keep going back and here's our trick: we plan way ahead, pay a package rate, justify the cost by thinking of the value of the whole experience, and then try to forget how much we are paying for the hotel. And it works - we always have a great time and come home smiling after another wonderful trip to Disneyland. Just think of the whole experience and save up to stay here - it is worth it.

If you can afford it, this is definitely THE place to stay during your visit to Disneyland. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk from your room to Disneyland Park, 5 minutes from your room to California Adventure Park, and 2 minutes from your room to Disney Town with lots of shops and restaurants.

You are paying 4 season prices and getting Hyatt quality rooms, but you can't beat the location. Another con is it is a very large hotel and feels it (a bit impersonal and anonymous), but again, you can't beat the location for a visit to Disneyland. Service was solid and courteous. Really no complaints at all except for the price. I recommend looking on Expedia for better rates. We booked through the hotel directly and then found a less expensive rate for the same room on Expedia and asked the hotel to give us the lower rate (which they did after I told them that otherwise, I will just cancel the room through them and book it on Expedia)

I have stayed several times at this hotel, mostly because it's location and because it's simply gorgeous. That said I know I'm overpaying, a lot, a huge huge lot. The rooms are as bland as any found in an Embassy Suites or any other hotel next to the highway. Absolutely nothing to be impressed. The pillows are uncomfortable and the bed could be better. This time stayed in a concierge suite (top floor) overlooking the resort. You can see in my pics that this actually means looking at the pool and in the far distance a little bit of California adventure. The Craftman's Club is very convenient though, sodas are free and the breakfast is excellent, the food at noon (11-3pm I believe) is always the same, some cookies and little sandwiches and scones, for dinner they can serve you wine and there is slightly more variety (cheeses, crackers and warm food). So if you don't want to go to a restaurant for dinner this would do. The location though is unbeatable and it is a gorgeous hotel, the lobby takes your breat away. Have eaten at the restaurant, Napa Rose and this I would reccomend without reservations, the service is consistently top noth and so is the food. The Club has a computer that you can use free of charge. The pool was very nice, if you can are are not too embarrased to let your inner child show use the water slide, it's tons of fun!

I decided to spend my 60th birthday at the Grand Californian and Disneyland. The hotel was beautiful. The suite was lovely and overlooked the courtyard. The beds and linens were very luxurious. The flat screened tvs were great, as was the turndown service, the chocolates, and the over all experience. It was well worth the money.

We stayed at the Grand Californian for the first time with our 4 daughters. Ages 6,7,9 and 15. We stayed on the Concierge Level, The Craftsman Club 6th floor Room 6116. It looked towards the fireworks every night. We were there March 10th-17th and every day was magical. The concierge desk was simply wonderful and catered to our every need! The Craftsman Club was great for breakfast and lunch. They always were stocked with food and drinks and in the evening they have story telling for the kiddo's. Beer and wine for mom and dad, even late night Bailey's or Amaretto with coffee! The kids loved it and so did we! We paid a little extra, but we think we saved money by eating every breakfast in the Craftsman Club and we ate 2 lunches in there as well.

The housekeeping service was decent. We had a suite and they had to be called a few times to turn down the hide a bed for 2 of our daughters. We always had ample towels, shampoo, soap, etc....They were always friendly when we passed in the hallway.

Food was great for lunch at the Storytellers Cafe, but the dinner buffet lacked....We wouldnt go back for the dinner, but the lunch was great and if your kids like pizza, order the kids pizza. They get to personally make the entire pizza. So much fun for them!
We got room service 1 night and it was way too expensive, but it was close to midnight and our only alternative. We wouldn't do that again or at least have some of us share a meal....

The parks are just magical and I can't say enough about them! I love the tunnel for the hotel guests and it was great for our afternoons when the girls had to go back to the room to do homework from school. We went to the room, got lunch in the Craftsman Club and then did an hour of homework and back out to the parks! The girls rode the Grizzly Water Ride and got very wet and it was a cool day so they ran through the tunnel to our room and changed and met us back in California Adventure.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me. I will attach some pictures soon.

We have stayed at the Grand Californian several times. And each time we are so happy. The location alone is so worth the extra money. If you get tired or need to switch shoes or you get wet, its just so close to both the parks that you can make the most of your day.
The service is always excellent, they always try to make you as happy as possible. I would recommend the park view if available. We stayed in the bunk bed with Trundle/Queen Bed room and it had enough room for our family of five.
