“Good Family Escape”
Reviewed 18 June 2013

This property is ideally located for visiting the Disney Amusement Parks. True to most reviews, it is less than a 10-minute walk door-to-door (forsaking the bag check/entry to park lines). We traveled with our two young kids (2 & 4) and my mom, so location was a priority. Our 1-bedroom family suite provided ample space for everyone. Unfortunately, it only had 1 bathroom for 5 people to share. The small dining table was very useful for eating meals. There are two small fridges (one in each room) and a microwave in the room with the King bed. The a/c unit is really noisy, but didn't bother us much. Room 330 was great for viewing the nightly Disneyland fireworks from our balconies. Plenty of food options, ranging from the inexpensive to more upscale within a 2-20 minute walk. We made good use of breakfasts at the McDonald's next door and Pizza Press on the other side of the hotel is great. It can get noisy in the hotel with footsteps from above and the ambient noise from Harbor Blvd., but it never bothered us as we were fatigued from the day. The rooftop pool is one floor up, and quite small with a small hot tub for use as well.

What is frustrating, is the parking situation. Though the valet staff were always really nice. If regular parking runs out, you have to valet your car (free of charge, except the tip). During the 4 nights we stayed, our car was valeted the whole time. It becomes a production if you want the freedom to leave the property with the car because you have to call ahead of time for them to get your car and bring it up front. Regardless, I would definitely stay here again. The staff were all kind and helpful.

Room Tip: The corner family suite room 330 is excellent. It's near the stairs and elevator. Great view for...

This is the perfect budget hotel to stay at when visiting Disneyland. It is across the street from the main entrance. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Suites are available for families. Awesome view of the fireworks at Disneyland too. Continental breakfast in the mornings and free WiFi. Several restaurants are very close offering many dining choices. Excellent service with all of the hotel staff!

Room Tip: You will hear some noise from rooms above.

This was our first stay at this property since our usual hotel was booked. We ended up selecting this property more based on it being available than being our choice

Overall it was ok, definitely within the normal standards of any of the other Disneyland resort hotels with both some good and some not-so-good.

THE GOOD:

- VERY clean! Both the room and the bathrooms were sparkling clean and everything was in-place and functioning.
- HUGE rooms! We had the Deluxe One Bedroom Family Suite and both the Living Room and Bedroom were larger than normal and well accommodated the 6 people in our party.
- Sparkling pool! We did not use the pool but our room directly overlooked it and it appeared to be spotless and well maintained.
- LOCATION! Just a short walk south on Harbor and than right across Harbor to the Disneyland entrance. A number of restaurants are also very close by and within walking distance.

THE NOT-SO-GOOD:

- Customer Service/Front Desk Staff. Upon entering the lobby to register/check in, you could hear the wind whistling through as there was absolutely no one there. I had to do the exaggerated throat clearing 'ahhhhhhummm' to get try and get someone in the back rooms attention. 'Edna' finally appeared and reluctantly said: "Can I help you?" rather than what I hoped would have been "Welcome to the Camelot Inn and Suites". The check-in process was routine and emotionless, with Edna mentioning several times that there was no smoking in the rooms. I even had to specially sign the section on the sign-in sheet regarding no smoking just in case I didn't hear her or understand that there was no smoking in the rooms. After the cursory flipping around of the property map with a line drawn from 'we are here' to 'your room is here' I was dismissed by Edna casually turning around and returning to whatever was going on in the back room.
- Parking is horrendous. This isn't the hotel's fault as the area is land-locked, but be prepared for no parking spaces available or having to resort to letting the valet deal with it. I managed to get the very last self-park space at the end, but the tight quarters made for (when I stopped counting) a 12-point turning exercise to get my suburban in the cramped space. I would suggest letting the valet deal with it; there is an additional charge to the $9 daily self-parking charge, but worth it.
- One bathroom in the Deluxe One Bedroom Family Suite. This room actually is two rooms with the capacity potential of 8 adults. There is only one bathroom for both rooms so be prepared for some serious bathroom activity scheduling and hope no one has the chili for dinner. Showering/preparing in the morning was definitely a interesting problem and by time the fourth adult was done the bathroom and shower area was a disaster.
- Additional costs for things like Internet access can quickly add up, so be careful with what you chose to utilize.

Bottom line:

Not a bad place, definitely has some high points that make it a very nice place to stay. I do give high marks for cleanliness and modern beds, TV's etc. and this property does have those. The one-bathroom issue is a huge show-stopper so should be taken into consideration. Parking is an issue at every Disney resort but this property's parking area seemed disproportionately smaller and tighter to maneuver around in.

Room Tip: Go with multiple single rooms for larger parties rather than the suites.

I stayed at this hotel just for 2 nights and for gaining access Disney, which is virtually directly across the road, 5 minutes and you're at the ticket booths.
The staff were friendly and offered to hold our bags while we went into Disneyland for the day, (as all Australian flights are at night).
It by no means the Hilton, it is a place to stay for going to Disneyland, not a place to sit, relax and stay in the hotel. It fufills its need for sleeping after a long, tiring day at Disneyland.
IF anything, I requested a high floor as i read reviews stating you can see the fireworks, you can, however, all small spurts, i would not say you "can see them". The higher floors also means close proximity to the pools which usually had 3-5 screaming children. Of course, you can get this from the hotel next to you also, but just be prepared that they can be in there all day, hence why i say, a place to rest at night and go out during the day.
I would definitely recommend for a family or solo traveller on a budget looking to stay close to the park and for easy access and drop and sleep at night.
Perfect for what i wanted and has a quirky outer look too.

Room Tip: Request away from the pool area if you are wanting to have a nap at anytime, as it can get noisy.

Our trip to Disneyland was much anticipated and the most important things when booking this hotel were its location it's literally across the road from the gates and breakfast was included . Given our 4 and 7 year old don't eat a lot we wanted to start each day with them saving eaten something. Kids loved the sugary cereal and raspberry/lemonade soda choices for breakfast. Is a typical American continental breakfast but its better than nothing . Would be great if they included toast . Great that it had fruit as we could take it with us for later. Rooms were comfortable albeit small. 2 queens in a room so kids had to share. Sink in bedroom which was not the best as light from over vanity would wake the kids. Having said that the beds and pillows to die for. We had a room on the third floor which was fine right outside ice machine which would've been noisy If we weren't so tired !! Pool was basic, on top of car park but was warm, sunny and clean and kids loved it. Only one complaint and that is we wish the staff could have looked at our booking and told us that the fireworks are only on Sunday nights ( the night we checked in ) and we missed them as we were too tired to get up thinking we could catch them later on in the week :(

this is a motel style place, the front desk are OK, they can provide local info and help us to get a cab to airport. the room services don't pay much attention on the door sign. the place is general clean. we did use the swimming pool, and spend the afternoon there.

We have young kids, so location is everything for us. we actually back to hotel for a nap in the afternoon, and head out for firework and show at night again.

You can't get a much better location if you are visiting Disneyland. 10 minutes to front gate - closer than the Disneyland hotel. However, you shouldn't expect good service. Asked twice for a crib, never got it. Lady from London working the front desk not helpful & generally unpleasant. I asked if she could call us when our room was ready because we were going to the park. She said no because they would have to do that for everyone. Funny though, every time I went to the office, the staff were all just hanging out & talking. They didn't seem so busy. Rooms are a little worn but maintained ok. It isn't a roach motel, but not a luxury inn. Maid service starts at 8 am & you need to have a do not disturb sign up or they will knock & come in. I would stay here again only if the Fairfield next door was booked up.
