After shopping, visited Macaroni Grill for the 1st time in quite a long time. I was happy to see my favorite, the Parmesan Crusted Sole with the sun dried tomato orzo side still on the menu because it is delicious & plentiful. Mom ordered Eggplant Parmigiana, the initial order came out black/burnt all the way around, which our waiter, Trevor took back to have it re-made. The 2nd one was better but it was not very tender & you had to use a knife to cut it vs just using a fork. The pasta that accompanied it was plentiful & the sauce had a bite to it...I like spivey, mom does not. We each ordered the add on salads which are plenty & a reasonable price & option vs the old days when you had to ordered a full cost salad. Oh, the bread was of course warm & yummy. Our waiter was super hyper to the point it made us uncomfortable, plus after asking twice for the balsamic vinegar I finally flagged down a manager & asked him for it.
Overall, it was just okay...nothing special. Service & cost just average. Food was good portions & I do enjoy the fish w/orzo but not enough to make a return appearance anytime soon.

We used to enjoy frequent romantic dinners at Romano's Macroni Grill in Anaheim Hills. Not so much these days. Over the last two or three years their menu has been up and down, so once we find a favorite, we cannot expect to see it again.
Additionally the service has gone downhill since they started dressing the wait staff in rodeo wear. The servers look sloppy, and, as evidenced by last night's dinner, are performing sloppily, as well.
Let's start with the highlights: Jordan sang opera for us in English and Italian. His voice was excellent and his knowledge of music history was impressive.
The silverware is not especially cheap.
The stuffed peppers are delicious, and bread is included in the cost of the meal.
The low points bring us back to the service. I hope we had the worst server last night, otherwise, this restaurant has sunk so low we will soon have another vacant building in the neighborhood.
Would you think communication is an important skill for a server to have? Apparently, the manager does not, because Marlene tried to cover her lack of language skills by mumbling, and speaking, very fast. We twice told her we could not understand her, but she made no attempt to improve.
Marlene used her failure at communication to our disadvantage because she said ALL wines were half priced, but when our bill came, she said we misunderstood her, and only selected wines were half price. We could have had an entire bottle of a fine wine for less than a couple glasses of the house Chianti.
Marlene recommended the new pork shank. She said it was a pound of pork - she did not mention that 30 percent of the "pork" was going to be bone (There were three bones in our shank)..
The food was a poorer quality than we had enjoyed in the past, the server was irritating and at best mistaken about pricing and food quality. The ambiance is sorely affected by the servers' uniforms; the manager roamed the floor looking surly, and never stopped by.
We will likely return in a year or so, since this is a neighborhood establishment, but I am not looking forward to our next visit - except that Jordan was GREAT.

We were staying at the Residence Inn across the street in Yorba Linda/Anaheim Hills. This Macaroni Grill was almost literally in the same parking lot as the Hotel. Great location. We went for lunch and the service and the food was great. Very nicely decorated and comfortable. Not crowed at the time we went and really enjoyed it!

we had our dinner, the corner we were seated was so dimly lit, could hardly read the menu. It took them a while to bring the bread & olive oil, that too was cold. For appetizer we had ordered Bruchetta, fried zucini, not so good, fried zucini seemed like was fried in stale oil, some pieces were still limpy, dripping with oil. Bruchetta half of them not toasted well, so so. Main course dinner penne pasta was over cooked, difficult to chew. Only upside was ceasars salad, and one of the waiter singing a opera number. I guess could have stayed home and enjoyed glass of wine and home made pasta. Would I recommend this? Hmmmm Uhh!!

We went to the macroni grill on Father's Day. We made reservations a week in advance. Our table was next to the kitchen which was very load and busy. Our waiter was annoying. He took forever to explain the menu items. We had to beg to get refills on our drinks. The food was mediocre at best and expensive. We will never eat there again.
