Before you read this consider that I went here for part of my honeymoon with my wife, thinking it was a very nice hotel with Spanish style theming as is implied by the picture of the hotel online. To our disappointment this is not the case. The decor was Spanish themed, but aside from some nice fountains, there really wasn't anything special about it. Overall the architecture was looking run down and old. Perhaps they have improved it in the last year.

According to the web page for this hotel they had a restaurant on site. This is misleading. First the said restaurant was still under construction and not open when we were there. Second, when you hear "on site" you think it is in the hotel, this is not the case. The restaurant is located in the hotel's parking lot.

The hotel rooms attempted to make some kind of theme, I'm not sure what, with wicker furniture. They do have kitchenettes, one of their primary amenities. Kitchen features stove top, oven, and nice big fridge and freezer. The wicker bed, while very soft was surprisingly comfortable. We were there during that big heat wave in July 2006 and the A/C didn't work very well. Since we were on the ground floor we had a fountain in our patio (yes, looked like all rooms had patios or decks) but it was not working. A safety issue was the gas stove top. The layout of the kitchen puts the stove top directly across from the fridge with little space between. It was very easy to turn one of the gas knobs and not realize it when putting stuff into the fridge. Bathroom was small but the room had a large changing area next to the bathroom. Be careful if you have kids!

The hotel provides free wireless internet, a plus. The downside was that the connection was not very reliable, dropping frequently.

Since it was our honeymoon we stayed one night then canceled our reservation and went to Embassy Suites in Garden Grove. A phenomenal improvement.

If you can get a good price and its not a special occasion, then this is a decent place to stay. If you're on a honeymoon go somewhere better.

Thank you for your comments. Since your stay with us a year ago, there have been many updates to the property and the restaurant has been opened. During your stay with us in July 2006, we were still finishing the remodel and renovation of our Hotel and apologize for your inconveniences.

The hotel staff was not very helpful. They don't even have an ice machine. Their continental breakfast was through a restaurant across the way. The rooms appeared shabby and very unattractive. Their check-out time is 10:00AM. That is unheard of. My boyfriend and I stayed for just one night. I would think twice before using this hotel again.

The Pepper Tree is very comfortable. It has many amenities you won't find elsewhere at this price. There was an error in the reservation but we had brought our paperwork with us and the error was corrected immediately. Would we stay here again? Yes. We ate twice at the Azteca restaurant on the grounds, again great food, very friendly service, and at good prices. If this is your price range, you won't be dissappointed.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise for my friend and I and our two children (ages 1 and 3). The price was great for this large room with a full kitchen and private balcony. The location is very close to Disneyland and Knotts, and close to the freeway. Across the street is a drugstore and supermarket. The room had a very large closet and plenty of storage. The pool area was clean and had BBQ grills to use. Plus the pool was heated to the perfect temperature. The refrigerator is big and the room has a couch and coffee table. The hotel is decorated in a charming Spanish style. It feels very homely. The beds are comfortable too. The few bad things were that the bathroom is quite small. There is no alarm clock or tissues provided. No ice machines and the balcony doors had no screens so we had a bit of a problem with flies. The pool does not have a spa either. The lock on the door needs major improving. Our one year old could get out all by himself, since there was no bolt lock or chain. The neighborhood is not the best (and not the worst either). The hotel needs to also put phone books in the room. Overall, to get a big room and full kitchen it was well worth it and I would surely return.

my family and i came to the pepper tree for basically a place to crash after the draining theme park madness- what we got was so much more! The staff addressed our every want- from extra towels (3x a day), to hairdryers, to a DVD player. They printed out dozens of directions for us and were the nicest people(especially the night staff) The beds were THE most comfortable we have ever slept in our entire lives and the rooms were very quiet- we never heard any neighbors the whole time. Our only wish is they had a hot tub to soak
our worn out selves in. The pool was nice but goes from 3 feet to 8 feet so we had to go up the road to target to get our 6 year old some
arm floaties, but he loved every minute of it. It is in a great location, really close to disney and only minutes away from knotts berry farm. There is a grocery store right across the street which was awesome because they offer full kitchens so we stocked ours up and were set for dinner the whole week. needless to say we loved our stay and when we come back we will stay there again for sure!

We go to Disneyland several times a year – this was our first stay at
the Pepper Tree, and I have mixed feelings about the hotel. This was a spur-of-the-moment trip for us – which found (our first preference)
the Disney hotels, as well as our second choice (the Candy Cane Inn) sold out.

Let me start with the reason I will probably not come back to the Pepper tree, and that is the proximity to the Disney parks, combined with no shuttle service. From the Pepper Tree, it is a good 15 minute
drive to reach the queue for parking at Disney, then paying and finding parking, then walking and waiting in the line for the tram…all of this sets you back a good hour from even entering the parks. We have a toddler – so one of the huge perks of staying at a Disney hotel is the convenience of the monorail which can get you back to your hotel for an afternoon nap (swim, etc.), and then quickly back again in the evening. This is just not a viable option at the Pepper
Tree. By the time you get your child loaded into the car at the parking lot, nap time is over. Plus, at the end of the day, it is nice to just get back as quickly as possible, get to sleep and start the next day refreshed.

Thus, if an onsite hotel is not an option, I’d still select a hotel nearby with a shuttle. It is just so much easier getting to and from the parks.

On the positive side, the Pepper Tree had a nice, updated Spanish-style lobby, and clean spacious rooms. This was a girls only trip (myself, my toddler and teenage daughter – and her friend), so we all appreciated the dressing area, which afforded a large mirror – great for applying make-up while others were able to shower. One night we brought home dinner from Buca di Beppo, and the utensils and plates in the kitchenette also came in very handy. The staff was always friendly and helpful. I was also impressed at how inexpensive the hotel was in comparision to other Anaheim hotels (and even motels) of much lesser quaility.

The downsides – the tile in the corridor was very noisy - particularly with people pulling suitcases back and forth to their rooms. We were all awakened each night by this nuisance. Also, I know it has been mentioned before, but the breakfast was downright awful. From stale cereal and muffins, to unripened fruit - the quality, quantity and selection were all lacking.

Finally, much has been made about the location – but in truth, with the exception of the immediate vicinity of the Disney Parks and convention center, Anaheim just isn’t a pretty city – and that holds true to the neighborhood where the hotel Pepper Tree sits – but it isn’t any worse than any other neighborhood in Anaheim.

To sum it up, if you’re in Anaheim for a reason other than Disney – particularly a long-term stay, the Hotel Pepper Tree is a reasonable option. If Disney is your destination – don’t underestimate the importance of proximity to the parks, and the ease and convenience of the monorail or shuttle service - and consider something closer to the parks.

We stayed here a couple nights while we went to Dinseyland. It was a nice sized room with the kitchen. Had we been there longer we would have used the kitchen. The bed was comfortable. I know the rooms have the tile in them and I guess I just prefer carpet. The shower went hot/cold on me. I still liked the room overall. One night we did have some woman standing out in the hall talking on her cell phone for over an hour. You could not hear anyone in other rooms but you could hear EVERYTHING in the hallway. My husband finally got up and told her to go in her room. The breakfast is in the restaurant in the parking lot. It was perfect for me. Cereal, banana, yogurt and juice is all I need. With the price around $100 a night I would definitely stay there again.
