“Great for Disney, and very good for couples.”
Reviewed 9 August 2012

We visited this hotel during our honeymoon and were booked into a standard room for 4 nights. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the check in staff who were exceptionally helpful and had upgraded us to a top floor suite! A fantastic start to our trip to California.

The hotel it's self is large to say the least, but everyone seems genuinally pleased to help you. The concierge were so helpful, they helped us to find our way around LA, how to get to the car hire, Disney, and book tickets to Universal. They also helped us to find a number of discounts and deals for the trips we did, saved us a lot of money.

My biggest tip, if you are visiting Disney, it is a 25 minute walk along a clearly marked route but after a long day in the park you can get a FREE blue Disney bus to and from the Woody parking lot. This is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel and saves your feet. It was the best find of our stay, the Disney staff suggest it to us, it takes you straight into the centre of the park!

My only comment and reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that the hotel feels very corporate, it is set up as a business centre and as such may not be the best place for family's. However this is only minor as they do have lovely facilities for kids as well (pool, etc).

You won't be disappointed if you book, and overall it was a great stay. Mostly down to the staff, they are fantastic!

Thanks Hitlon, we will use again if we come to LA.

Room Tip: Request a Disney view room for a free view of the evening fireworks and shows!

Dear Joss_Gamble,

We love your awesome review of our hotel! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on TripAdvisor. We are very proud of our team and we will continue to do our best to make sure that our guests are happy and satisfied!

Being the biggest hotel in Southern California, we do get a lot of major convention groups but we do also have a lot of leisure travelers staying with us because we are conveniently located right across from Disneyland. There is never a dull moment here at Hilton Anaheim. We love the on-going action here. It makes us proud when we know that we have made your stay a memorable one.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your Hilton Anaheim experience and we hope that you can come and visit us again soon!

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Disneyland and the surrounding area. Here is a list of pros and cons:
Pros 1- Close to Disneyland, although it's not a 1 block walk. It's probably a mile by the time you walk around the block and to the entrance of the park. Either way, it's not bad.
2- Standard Hilton quality and cleanliness
Cons
1- The delivery of Hilton Hhonors rewards was sub par. I had to continually ask for the benefits as they were not automatically offered to me. Very annoying.
2- Hotel is BIG and BUSY. Lots of people means we waiting for 10+ minutes at times for an elevator.
3- Breakfast is WAY overpriced. So is parking.

Room Tip: Chose a room close to the elevators or you may have a long walk.

Stayed with my husband for 5 nights at the Hilton Anaheim for its proximity to Disneyland and we managed to get a good rate. Disneyland is a 15-20min walk from the hotel which we didn't mind but there is a bus (the ART for around $2) that frequently goes to Disney if you don't want to walk. The room was clean, beds comfortable, bathroom had an odd smell from the toiletries and on the small side but also clean. We had a Disney view so could see the fireworks every night which was nice. Decor could use an update (it is very brown) and you can hear some hallway noise but you are near Disney so you'd expect kids running around. I didn't hear them when I was sleeping so it wasn't a big issue. Concierge was extremely helpful pointing out where to eat nearby and offering options for tours. The area feels generally safe with a lot of Disney-goers around all the time. We ate continental breakfast and one dinner there, both were ok and service was average. A major con is that they charge you for internet use and to use the gym. Also due to the size of the hotel, the wait for the elevators in the morning can be long. Value for money given that we stayed in a peak summer period.

My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Anaheim July 21 - 25 while visiting Anaheim and Disneyland. It's about a good 20 minute walk to the parks which was just perfect for us. If you had children, you might want to use the local bus service which seemed extensive.

The room, while being a bit spartan, was modern, clean and comfortable. We didn't have a great view (an inner courtyard area) but we were overall quite happy with the room and the facilities of the hotel (yay, Starbucks!). I think the biggest complaint I'd have is that the door to the hallway appears to be paper thin when it comes to noise. By the time we got back to our room, we were so exhausted that no noise would bother us.

The price we got was exceptional and we felt welcome and well taken care of. We'd highly recommend this property.

Dear toddintune,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our hotel on TripAdvisor. We are so glad you enjoyed the room accommodations and were able to book at a great rate. For your next stay with us consider upgrading to a Disney View room. You would have great views of the various landmarks within the Disney Parks during the day and at night a breathtaking view of the fireworks. This would be sure to add a spark of romance for any couples staying with us. We hope to see you and your husband back at the Hilton Anaheim.

Kind Regards,

The staff was very nice and helpful
Breakfast was nice but the waiters was very confused and it took lot of time to get our orders.
It is very welcoming to families and special for kids at the family.

I booked a room here for me and my girlfriend's anniversary with the impression that we would be staying at a nice hotel (Hilton) in a nice room (Executive floor, King bed, view of Disneyland).

The hotel itself (exterior, lobby, elevators, halls) was alright, but seemed old and unfortunately not a good old. The uniforms the staff wore made them look like they worked at a crappy casino (5 card tables max and a bar that serves watered down alcohol). In fact, that’s kind of how the hotel felt all around.

We attempted to check-in upon arriving around 11 AM, but were informed that the room was still occupied and the current guest{s} didn’t need to check out until 12. No big deal, we just went to lunch to kill time. When we came back around 1 PM, we were informed that the room wasn’t ready and that they could give us a call once it was (up to 4 PM). Knowing we’ve arrived and are ready and waiting for our room, why not dispatch housekeeping to the room to expedite the process? Whatever, not worth the fuss, so we left our number and decided to hang out outside. After a bit (still before 4) we decided to check again and, sure enough, the room was ready, but they forgot to call.

When I first walked into the room I was fooled into thinking it was what I was looking for because of the furniture. After the bell man left, we started checking the room out and the disappointment only grew from there. Our view was decent (able to watch the Disneyland firework show at least), but partially blocked by the middle part of the building that extends out toward Disneyland, where they keep the suites. I’m all for a VIP feel, but why rub it in other peoples’ faces with that design instead of just putting the suites at the top level and letting everyone enjoy the full view?

You know how bathrooms are supposed to have a fan for removing moisture from showering/bathing and any unpleasant smells after bathroom use? Yeah, they don’t have those. The shower and bathtub combo (that may say enough already) is the same size and configuration that I was used to from my childhood, not nice and definitely not good for romance. Towel rack? It’s in the shower. Sliding door for the bathroom? I could dig it if it was done right, but this was just a big wooden door that seemed more appropriate for a closet. The bottom slider for the door that was meant to keep it aligned was not fulfilling its job and the cover for the top slider was partially dismounted.

After a few hours we decided we didn’t want to stay at this hotel anymore and so we contacted Expedia (who we booked it through) to plan an early checkout and new reservation at a nicer hotel. Expedia tried calling the front desk of the Hilton for about 10 minutes and nobody answered, so they asked me to visit the front desk and ask them to answer the phone. I attempted calling about 4 times and was also ignored (I chose this word on purpose). When I went down to the front desk in person, there were about 10 hotel representatives present and only 2 of them were assisting customers, the rest were just talking to each other or waiting to assist other customers.

When I asked the representative about an early checkout and refunding the current night (again, we had only been checked in for a few hours) they said that a refund wasn’t possible and called over their manager who confirmed this as well, despite my statements of disappointment. According to the manager, the hotel had been renovated a couple years ago and was up to standard. I guess changing furniture somehow qualified them to be able to say that.

I was able to get the Hilton staff to commit to answering a call from Expedia. Unfortunately, after talking to 2 different managers for about 20 minutes, the Expedia representative was unable to get us a refund and what’s more, they couldn’t even get the future nights of the reservation refunded (fine print wins again), so it wasn’t so easy as sucking up the hit of one night and moving on.

In the end, we ended up staying all of the nights because we didn’t want to give them money for nothing and doubling our hotel expenses by booking another room somewhere else just wasn’t in the books this time around. Needless to say we will not be staying at that hotel ever again and we will be avoiding Hilton and Hilton associated hotels whenever possible.

Room Tip: Recommend getting a room with a view of Disneyland (firework show nightly, at least during the summe...

Dear Brian J,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel on TripAdvisor. It is true that most reservations made on third party websites are non-refundable and that we do not guarantee a room to be available for check-in until 4:00pm. We are sincerely apologetic that you were unable to get a hold of anyone at the front desk to assist you when you attempted to call. I assure you that we will share this review with the Director of the Front Office and he will address this concern with the team. Though there seemed to be a slight malfunction with the bathroom door, by simply dialing “0” on the in room phone to inform the operator, we would’ve gladly sent a Property Operations mechanic to correct the problem. We would like to point out, however, that there is a central ventilation system servicing each and every one of the bathrooms in our guest rooms. It is constantly operating without the need to flip a switch and is specially engineered to be as silent as possible as not to disturb our guests. This is one of many features designed to create comfort and convenience for our guests at the Hilton Anaheim. We hope that you stay with us again so we can prove to you that we are more than just fine furnishings.

Kind Regards,
Jennifer Sacks

We stayed here for five nights for a conference. Everything was exspensive our conference rate was $189 per night. I called the hotel in advance of arrival to confirm that they have free wi-fi in the lobby, but the signal was so weak we couldn't actually get a connection. Nothing was free except ice, and in room coffee. This hotel is a bit of a hike to attractions, as the city blocks here are very long. The staff seemed very friendly. Housekeeping had some ninja skills, as we would leave our room in the morning, and be back within 30-45 minutes, and our room was already cleaned. We gave up on the elevators on day one and took the stairs everywhere. The hotel was sold out, but did not seem loud, or overly crowded. There are quite a few restaurants within a 15-20 minute walk. We ate at Fire +Ice a couple times it is in the Gardenwalk past Bubba Gump's.
We were able to check in early around 11am as we had an early morning flight, but we were put in a handicapped accessible room which had some pros and cons. If you have a room on the Disney side you can see the fireworks at 9:30 which was cool. We just felt this hotel was not a good value- no fridge or microwave or free wi-fi.

Room Tip: Disney side is the best.
