“Disney Vacation”
Reviewed 20 June 2010

This was a LONG awaited trip to Disneyland and the decision to stay at Stovall's Inn made everything absolutely magical.

We landed around 11am and was at the hotel by 12pm. They accommodated our early check in but I was disappointed at first when we were told they didn't have the room I reserved (through hotels.ca). But the front desk staff spoke with housekeeping staff and found us a room that was just cleaned and exactly what we had asked for: king bed, top floor, facing Cali Adventure.

The room was rennovated and furnished with modern decor. Bed and pillows amazingly comfortable. 4 large and well stuffed pillows with extra lounging pillows atopped an extremely comfortable mattress. Seriouly, I had the best sleeps I've ever had in a hotel room! Sink is outside of washroom to allow others to get ready while one is in the shower. Air conditioner located at rear of room, it's really not THAT loud - I sleep with earplugs anyway. Flat screen TV which has s-video jack (I always pack my laptop and s-video cable to play movies on the TV) and has many good channels. Ergonomic office chair with desk and there's also a small eating table with 2 armchairs. Microwave and mini-frige also included in the room. WIFI was a little hard to connect to at times but was reliable when connected.

Fireworks and clearly visible from the walkway right outside our room. There were also 2 pools and I believe 2 hot tubs but we never got around to using it. Those seen using it looked like they had a good time. Exercise room consisted of a tv, all in one workout machine, treadmill and maybe an oliptical and free weights? Only took a peek inside and there was someone working out so we didn't stay. It did seem a little stuffy in there though... my partner said he only saw a small window that was already opened.

Breakfast goes until 9.30am and it was pretty good. Large room with a good amount of seating. Didn't go there every morning but of the mornings we did go there seems to be a rotation of the "hot food of the day" - pancakes, french toast, supplemented by danishes/donuts, rolls with gravy, 3 types of cereal, toast, apple/orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate mix, apples/bananas, hard boiled eggs. It was one of the best continental breakfasts I've experienced at hotels and the staff in there were always cheerful and polite.

It took us under 10 mins to walk to the gates of Disney/Cali and that was through the "long way" (around the parking lot of Grand Cali and through Downtown Disney). We cut through the the Grand Cali lobby the first day and it probably shaved a few minutes off the walk. We didn't do it any of the other days though cause we were able adults capable of a 2 minute detour.

Coco's and Tiffy's are 2 restaurants literally 15 seconds away and both offer good portions for their prices. Wonderland Market is about 5 mins walk away but it's pretty expensive there. $7.99 for 15 pack of water and that was supposed to be a sale!

The only negative things I can say about Stovall's is that the walls aren't overly thick and the towels could use a change - not that they were dirty/musty, they were pretty rough from excessive washing/drying.

Overall, this was THE BEST hotel experiecen I've had. Mind you, I don't travel that much but do visit at least 3 hotels in any given year. We got a wicked price from hotels.ca which came to about $90ish CAD per night. The paper inside the room claims it's $199 USD per night? Anyway, great hotel, great location, will definitely stay there again for my next trip to Disney.

We were very impressed with this hotel. The rooms had recently been renovated and were comfortable and large with kitchenette including microwave. Unfortunately microwave dishes were missing in action. Walking distance to several restaurants and diners including Dennys, which was popular with my teenager. Staff were helpful even though the hotel was very busy during our visit. Only a couple of large blocks to Disneyland, it was easy to save the 15 minute walk and take the hop on-off Trolley bus right out front of the hotel for $5 for the day. Great for young children - if they get tired you can come back to the hotel for a rest. There were 4 computers with free high-speed internet - a must for staying in touch with family and friends. There was a continental breakfast included which was very ordinary - the only thing that wasn't up to scratch with this hotel. The breakfast was basically cereals or sweet donuts with disposal crockery and cutlery . We would stay here again without hesitation - great value.

Great service and good amenities summed up our four days at Stovall's Inn. Staff were friendly and knowledgable, rooms excellent and breakfast each morning filled our family up for the day (although a little too sugary)
Disneyland was an easy walk from the hotel. Two family restaurants within 5 minutes walk and convenience store 10 minutes walk.
What made our stay was the immediate access to our rooms at 8am after our 12 hour flight from NZ.
Kids enjoyed the pool, adults ths spa, and the view of the fireword was enjoyed by all.
A great base for our Anaheim holiday!

The layout of the hotel is more like a Motel than the former. The rooms are noisy, can hear evertything that happens in the walkway. The A/C is loud and you generally hear the upstairs neighbour when they walk, talk a showerr or flush.

The floor is uneven and carpets musty.

The staff and service was nice and good.

We got a great rate to stay here with our 2-year old. When we checked in, it looked like they gave us their worst room – right next to housekeeping and across from the elevator. We decided to give it a chance and were pleasantly surprised. Housekeeping was very discreet during sleeping hours, and the elevator doesn’t “ding” to alert you that it’s arrived. Another bonus was the old-school wall unit air conditioner. Basically your room has exterior corridors which face the parking lot. The a/c unit in on the back wall of your room. There is a 3 foot gap between buildings so no one shares the wall behind you. The air conditioner is LOUD, which was perfect for us as it served as “white noise” to drown out any noises from outside. Plus the room-darkening shades work very well. All in all, we were very pleased.

The beds are uncomfortable and lumpy, but clean. Your room comes with a refrigerator, microwave, and free high-speed internet. It was problematic at first but if you reboot after every session (instead of just letting your computer go to standby), it refreshes your IP address which keeps it from getting hung up. I’ve read other reviews which led to some confusion about the resort fee. We were charged $8/day for parking. I believe this fee is included in the rack rate if you book directly with the hotel. But if you book thru Expedia or 800hotels, you’ll be charged the $8.

Walking to Disneyland wasn’t bad. Maybe 15 minutes behind a stroller. Take the Grand California shortcut to either DCA or Downtown Disney (and take the monorail into Disneyland). We figured out on our last day that we were better off driving to Downtown Disney (free parking for 3 hours) because 3 hours was our 2-year-old’s limit anyway.

Continental breakfast was everything I expected. Basic donuts, cereal, coffee, juice, milk, fruit (oranges and apples), as well as hard boiled eggs and biscuits with gravy. We skipped it on our last day because you can’t eat that stuff 5 days in a row.

We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
