“Well priced hotel”

This hotel does the job. Staff are friendly and helpful, with a 10 minute walk to Disneyland entrance. Mimi's cafe is across the road and serves a good sized meal, although we found ourselves eating at MIllie's for breakfast as we found the food better there. We didnt use the pool, but it looked fine. This hotel is good value for money.

This hotels was great! The staff are friendly, hotels is clean and has a great pool/play area for kids. My 5 and 7 year olds had a great time when we went to the pool area with the water play ground and play area. There is a small heated pool for the smaller kids which they also took advantage of.
There is a small store in the hotels with basic's like individual cereals, candy, juice, milk, water ect. as well as some novelties items (tshirt, key chains).
Its about a 10 minute walk to the disney park entrance.
You can see the fire works from the hotels as well.
You pass a great restaurant on the corner (Mimis cafe) it has really good food, fair pricing, friendly staff.
The only thing that we didnt like was that our room was at the back of the hotel and we really could hear the freeway. But we got used to it and was in the end no big deal.
We would definatly stay here again!

Room Tip: the back of the hotel was a bit loud but really didnt bother us to much in the end. For us we just...

Dear Shellya23:

I’m delighted that your recent visit to Disneyland and your stay with us at Howard Johnson Anaheim was such a great experience! I’m also thrilled to announce the progress of our soundproofing window project for freeway-facing rooms, such as yours, on floors 1-6 in Building #1. These rooms are now remarkably quiet, and we just have 10 rooms to complete on the 7th floor (they are a bit more complicated). We really are on a mission to provide the best service, quality, and value for families visiting Disneyland, and we’re always looking for new ways to improve our product. Thanks for your feedback!

Adequate and inexpensive. Clean rooms with a quick walk to Disneyland (and I am very lazy). There is a busy road on one side but it really cant be heard from inside the room. The staff were lovely and accomodating at all times and didnt spank me for checking out 1 hour late. (Much appreciated).

Our family was in three rooms Two garden view queens (bldg 2) and one king (bldg 1). The rooms were clean and very spacious. The location is ideal. About a 10 minute walk depending on traffic signals. It is faster to cross Harbor at Manchester then along the Park, cutting thru ART area. Less congestion. Our granddaughter became ill and the front desk recommended the UCal Irvine Medical Center. It was a great caring medical facility. That evening she vomited in her bed. Within 15 minutes housekeeping came and remade the bed. THANK YOU. The rooms were quiet keeping in mind the relative closeness to Harbor Blvd and I-5. One slight complaint was what appears to be some mold on the upper part of shower. Not having a continental breakfast was not missed. No hassles for food and recommend Mimis for eating. Will stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Room Tip: Queen rooms appear more spacious than doubles.

We stayed here for 4 nights last week based on the recommendations I read on the Disney Boards. Their recommendations did not disappoint! The drive from John Wayne Airport to the hotel was straightforward and took about 15-20 minutes. This alone is a good reason NOT to fly into LAX (I believe the drive from LAX would take about 45-60 mins). We stayed in Building 1 on the 7th floor (top floor). When we checked in, the front desk told us we had a "Disney view". Our balcony had a spectacular view of the Matterhorn Bobsled ride in Disneyland and we also saw the nightly fireworks show on our first night right from our balcony! If you listened closely you could also hear the train whistle from the Disneyland Railroad.

Our room was very clean, had comfy beds and there was no noise from our neighbors at all during our stay. There was a lot of shelf space to place your luggage so that it was off the floor. There was an extra sink outside the bathroom which makes for a nice feature so that 2 people could get ready in the morning/evening at the same time. Our room had a large safe (which is a requirement for us during any vacation). Parking is free.

There is no restaurant on site but Mimi's Cafe is right next door to the hotel. We ate breakfast there every morning and enjoyed our meals.

Wi-Fi access is free and the connection was great! There are 2 iMac's in the hotel lobby for guest use. The front desk staff was always pleasant.

The walk from the hotel to Disneyland/California Adventure took about 10 minutes to the front gates. The I-5 freeway was also right outside of our building and the traffic noise could be heard, but having grown up in a major city, I considered it white noise in the evening while falling asleep. After spending a day at the parks and being exhausted, I don't think the traffic noise would be a bother.

I would recommend this hotel for it's proximity to the parks and would choose Howard Johnson again if I found myself in Anaheim in the future.

We stayed here November 5 - 9, 2011. I agree with the other reviewers about not needing anything fancy when the purpose of your trip is to visit Disneyland. The only thing I missed at this hotel was some sort of breakfast/restaurant. One morning we went to the gift shop and paid $6 for a package of 6 stale bagels - ugh. However, Mimi's Cafe is right across the street and has good food. There is also a McDonalds down the road. Our room had an extra sink outside of the bathroom which is very handy with a family of four and everyone wanting to use the sink at the same time. The hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful. We spent very little time in the room, but it was clean and sufficient. The bathroom looked a little dated and needs an upgrade. We paid for a Queen Superior room with a view of Disneyland but we couldn't see much and our room was at the very end of the building so we did hear freeway noise, especially at night. Fortunately, we were so tired at the end of the day it didn't matter. The pool/spray park was on winter hours, so closed at 6 pm and didn't open until after we had left for Disneyland so our kids really had no opportunity to use it. Winter hours might make sense for Californians but we are Canadian so to us it's still pretty warm! I believe the pool was open a bit longer. All in all, we would stay there again - it's excellent value for the money (we got the Entertainment card rate - a real deal!).
