This restaurant was ranked 1/206 in Arcadia, with Starbucks and In-and-out Burger coming in at a close 6&7. So I'm not sure what the stats mean. There is an indiscernible line up that extends out doors into the parking lot, btw, there is an identical twin shop that is not attached on the opposite side of the building, and one is given a number and a menu to fill out prior to being seated--sushi style. They text you when a space opens up. The staff is courteous and polite, the food is good, although the menu is not the same(obviously?) as it is in China. No hairy crab here, or I missed it. The delivery is machine gun, with no apparent attention to order. My desert came out with my soup. I can't say that the chain has demonstrated the ability to standardize the experience in the detailed way that Hillstone has. There is another location in Glendale. Overall, I say try it, and you will not be disappointed in the quality of the food, but, this location will not be mistaken for its Shanghai cousin.

This was our first time dining at Din Tai Fung but have read many great reviews. We arrived right when it opened so we didn't have to wait in line or find parking. We noticed after 15 or 30 minutes that the parking lot was full and a line up was forming outside. The food and service was very good. Honestly though, we have had as good or better dumplings in Vancouver, BC. Despite that, we enjoyed our experience and would visit again when we vacation in LA.

We called ahead around 500pm and they said there were several tables open. We got there around 530pm and were seated right away. However, when we left 45 mins. later, there was a long line. Dumplings are the best and so was the garlic spinach - cooked perfectly. I love chili sauce on my dumplings, and while this one tasted good, the seeds were really large and unappetizing. I prefer when its ground up finely. Also, beer would have been a nice accompaniment, but they only have tea and soda. Very good all around, but not my favorite dim sun ever.

Arrived in LA and had to visit this awesome restaurant first thing. I was not disappointed. I have been to different DTF locations around the globe (Beijing, Taipei, Seoul) and I must say that this is the closest in quality to the mothership in Taipei.

Food was excellent, service superb. These are indeed the best dumplings on the planet. Side dishes are also very good, so are the soups and noodles. However, the dumplings are a must.

Note: Although not explicit on the menu, half portions are OK.

Din Tai Fung! You are the bomb! DUMPLINGS! LEGIT DUMPLINGS!

I've never seen so much variety in dumplings and xiao long baos on one menu before. So... We tried a lot, and LOVED them all.

Some thoughts:
* The xiao long baos are a little on the smaller end. However! The encasing is perfect, not too thick and not too thin. The soup within is just right, not too fatty or greasy.
* Shu mai and xiao long bao fusion?? What a freaking awesome idea!
* Vegetable dumplings can taste good?? You bet they can!
* At most places, the pork/crab xiao long bao isn't worth it. It's definitely worth it here.
* I wish Din Tai Fung's non-dumpling dishes weren't good so that I could eat tons and tons of dumplings. However, they're actually really good. Make a conscious decision on stomach space allocation.
* There's 3 locations now, so waits aren't terrible if they exist.
