“Very Good for Price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2010

This is certainly not a typical Comfort Inn. It's a little bit plain and much more like a typical ordinairy motel. However, it is clean and the people who run the place are real nice. Of all the hotels and motels in the Eureka and Arcata area, this one was reasonably priced as of Feb. 2010. (for some reason the prices of the hotels and motels in Eureka seem to be quite high for the area)

We stayed her for one night on the way to Washington with our todller. The guest service person who checked us in is really friendly. We were looking forward to swimming in the pool but was disappointed that to go there you need to go through the uncovered parking lot. The pool is covered but since the rooms have outside corridors you need to walk outside first to get to the pool. The breakfast room is really small. There are trays so you can bring your food to your room since there's really not enough space. The breakfast consists of waffles, pastries, cereals, coffee, juice, fruits. There are neat places to eat and other stores around. The rooms are not so old and not so new as well but comfortable enough.

It had the things that Comfort Inn advertises- nice continental breakfast (but all carbs,) daily paper (2 M-F!), "good "(but harder than most other Comfort Inn beds it seemed?) bed. Jacuzzi and pool (didn't use either, but it was there.) Had a fridge/microwave which I always appreciate. Did have some noisy patrons on the weekend, but nothing too out of hand.

Room was large and furnished "basically." Good satellite TV channel package. Building is older exterior entrance motel type. Shower faucet had incessant drip, toilet seat was loose, some mold on the walls, and the floor creaked. No elevator for the 2nd floor. First day, had ripped stained bathmat. They skipped my room for cleaning one of the 3 days I was there. The dust and lint build up in the heat/ac unit was so gross and piled up, that I actually scraped out a bunch so I wouldn't breathe it.

Most staff were nice and helpful, but one guy would not print my boarding pass (no pc/printer available) which I thought was odd since a lady who worked there told another guest she would turn their slow hotel pc around for her to use.... Most of the other hotels and the area seemed in the same range, but there was a brand new HJ across the street and something going up next to that, so maybe choices will be more varied in the future? I stay at Comfort Inn's a lot, and this is a low end one. It was ok, but I've come to expect more from a Comfort Inn.

We were given a free upgrade to a king-suite and were pleasantly surprised with the room. From the outside, the motel appears to be dated, but the furniture in the room appears to be recently updated. Overall, it was better than would be expected for a budget chain.
Our only complaint is that we paid more than would be expected for this type of chain (around $100 per night), but it was the best we could find in the Redwoods National Park area.

This is just an old motel right by the freeway, with outside corridors and freeway noise that you have to try to drown out with the creaky old window fan. Uneven floors, thin walls, old-stle motel bathrooms with separate sink, tired carpet - not a lot different really from the Motel 6 right next de door - probably older.

A big mistake booking this, but I was too tired to go shopping around for a better place (or even a similar grotty old freeway motel at a better price).

First room I was given had just had the carpet cleaned (seeing some of the carpets, I can understand why) but I did have to move to another room because of the chemicals. Most of the rooms are musty (although the whole town does smell as well, so maybe the cleaners don't notice).

This is the second sub-par Comfort Inn I've had in a row (the other was in Florence, OR - but that was a palace compared to this).

It's the final straw - I will never again book a Comfort Inn unseen. They seem to be letting any old motel into the chain, and pretending they are the Comfort Inn standard. This one is perhaps an Econolodge at best.

Staff was friendly, outgoing and helpful. The room was fine. Was on second floor and it was quiet and comfortable. Used the spa and it had not been cleaned...sand on the bottom. Good selection for breakfast in well lit eating area. Several restaurants within easy walking distance. Compared to other motels we stayed in recently I thought the $81.69 with tax a little pricey. We were there on a weeknight in mid April

I'll do my best to review the hotel and not the area. It's not quite what the mostly positive reviews online make it out to be...it's a Motel 6. Which I'm usually okay with. Some are just what you need. But at this place our fellow travelers were shady. Barbeques outside their doors. I saw a hotel party the night we stayed with a bunch of suspicious characters. The hotel is a bit older and darker, and it didn't help soothe my worry. The staff didn't really want to talk to me and the gf about our plans at all. I just...wouldn't recommend this place to any of my friends. That's it.
