We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this timeshare. It is not the newest resort we’ve ever stayed at but it has a rustic charm that certainly outweighs any lack of the latest and greatest amenities. We stayed in a unit that conveys a feeling of a Swiss chalet at least from outside appearances. Not a complaint but something a little strange is that the bedrooms are on the ground floor and both have exterior doors. The main entrance is on the second level. A nice feature is there is a keypad on one of the BR doors and the second level main entrance. The office sets you up with a code, usually your home zip code from what we were told. This means no keys or keycards are needed. This prevents the inevitable “have you got the key” question and the patting of packets or rooting through purses to make sure or running back in to get it when you leave the unit and is a help when you have your arms full of luggage or groceries. Both BR’s had queen size beds. The bathroom for the second BR was only a step or two away from the door. The master BR was “en suite” with a small dressing area and a second sink. Both bathrooms on the lower level had tub/shower combinations. A stacked washer and dryer were in a closet off the dressing area in the master BR. They were quite new and the resort left a container of detergent, enough for several loads, something other time shares we’ve stayed at didn’t. The master BR had a wall mounted TV, the second BR did not. The bedroom configuration worked out good for us as we are two adult couples who vacation together. There was also a half bath on the second level. There is an elevated deck in the front with a table, chairs, and umbrella and a ground level deck in the rear with a BBQ. The kitchen is adequate with enough utensils, dishes, glasses, pots and pans to cook a nice meal without too much improvising. They supplied some dishwashing and dishwasher detergent, trash bags, coffee filters, paper towels, and salt and pepper. The dining room table seated four with three stools at the counter. There is a small indoor pool (14 persons max) and hot tub (4 persons max) in the office building. In mid Sept. we used them twice during the week and had them to ourselves but you can use the large outdoor pool across the street we were told. There is a sauna and a racquetball court in the office building too. There is a public computer available for use in ½ hour increments. The resort offers something almost daily in the way of activities but the area around the resort has plenty to keep you from being bored. The folks in the office were friendly and not opposed to cracking a few jokes with you. There were three things that we said could use improvement. The reception on the TV was quite bad in our unit but we don’t watch that much to make it a truly worthwhile complaint especially while on vacation. The outside stairs and landings will need some repair or replacement soon. Ours was a little shaky and some of the wooden steps were beginning to feel a little spongy underfoot. We would like to see a more modern stereo and CD player in the unit with an input port so we could plug our Ipods and satellite radio receiver into it. Another unexpected but simple and welcome feature was the “moonglow” night lights in the bathrooms. They provided enough light so you could identify where you were for those first couple nights when you wake up at night someplace other than your own BR but not enough to keep you awake. The grocery store in town about 4 miles away is adequate with a bakery, deli, fresh meat, and fish counter. There are plenty of restaurants in town if you don’t want to cook. Some area “don’t misses” are Big Trees State Park, Stanislaus National Forest, Ebbett’s Pass Scenic Drive, Reno/Lake Tahoe, wine tasting in the numerous vineyards and wineries nearby, and of course, Yosemite National Park.
