After being disappointed at closure of Yosemite, we searched for a near by location in the Sierras to enjoy a couple days of hiking. Discovering Arnold, and especially the Black Bear Inn was a truly fortunate event. Our two nights enjoying Wendi and Bruce as hosts was wonderful. The room we had was huge, the comfy big king size bed, the cozy seating area and the super size bathroom was more than luxurious. The afternoon wine and cheese was always delicious and introduced us to one of the local wines. The breakfast was like a page from Gourmet! What a super way to celebrate my husbands birthday!!

Room Tip: Our room is called "Calaveras" and seems to be the biggest. It looks out into the forest...

Couldn't have been a more perfect stay at a B&B! Wendi and Bruce are fabulous hosts - very welcoming and attentive to all their guests' needs. The lodge is beautiful with a huge main room constructed from large timbers, and spacious, modern guest rooms with views of the well manicured grounds. The full breakfast prepared by Bruce and the afternoon wine and cheese offering were both delicious and very enjoyable in quiet, relaxed settings. We'll definitely be back! Be sure to book early for a weekend, especially during the popular months - it's worth it!

Everything really was just wonderful! The lodge is lovely, comfortable and all our needs were anticipated before we even thought of them. The grounds are lovely, perfect for strolling or just relaxing on the large patio or in the hot tub. The food was more then wonderful, really, and the presentation beautiful! The Bear Valley area has wonderful scenery with Ebbetts pass and Big Trees State Park nearby. Wendi and Bruce are the best!!

Room Tip: All the rooms, though decorated differently, are equally nice. There is one handicapped accessible r...

My boyfriend and I stayed two nights for our 9 year anniversary. We loved everything about this place. It's quiet, peaceful, relaxing, romantic, and not badly priced when you consider your room rate includes a wine & cheese platter every evening, a full (delicious!) breakfast every morning, jacuzzi bath, fireplace, hot tub, etc. I can not recommend this place enough for anyone wanting to celebrate a special event (birthday, anniversary, wedding, honeymoon, etc), or just take time away to relax and refresh! A+ to the Black Bear Inn, and it's awesome owners; Wendi & Bruce!

I originally found the Black Bear Inn accidentally when shopping for a hotel in Murphy's. I did not stay that trip however this time made the best choice and will not be staying elsewhere in the future when visiting the area. Great comfy rooms, unbelievable food and the lounge area is super warm, large cabin like yet very cozy. I have not seen any photo's that give this place justice.

Room Tip: All rooms looked equal in quality to us.

Great place to stay!! We had four peaceful nights sleep, gourmet breakfast every morning, gourmet wine and cheese in the evening, good ideas on what to see, where to eat and the best wineries! Wendi and Bruce are the best hosts you will ever have and thier inn is just perfect and in a quiet, beautiful forest setting.

Room Tip: We chose the Calaveras and it is a very nice room with king bed, end of the hall quiet, sitting area...

Beautiful, nice and comfortable. Would love to come back again sometime, spend more time. Pity, we had to leave early and had a very short stay. We would love to walk around, to see the surrounding forest and all attractions. Will plan for that in the future. My best to Wendi and Bruce!
