The Casitas of Arroyo Grande
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 16 March 2014

This is a very special place. We decided to stay here to break up our trip from Big Sur to Santa Barbara, and we were blown away. The raving positive reviews on this site were a clue, but even so we were astonished by how wonderful the Casitas is. Tony and Pat were a wonderful host and hostess, our room (Mariposa) was wonderful, but beyond that we loved the site. We sat and relaxed for the morning at the beautiful pool with great views over vineyards. The grounds are lovingly and beautifully landscaped. The Casitas were a bit out of our way, but the detour was well worth it. And as a small bonus Arroyo Grande was a pleasant little town where we could get a good meal and have a nice walk. Make the effort to leave San Luis Obispo and the 101 corridor and stay here. It's well worth it!

My husband and I went out to California for a long weekend get-away and we had the pleasure of staying at the Casitas for a couple nights. The hosts (Pat and Tony and their adorable, friendly dog, Kona) were extremely hospitable, gracious and warm. They were also helpful in letting us know about local sites and giving us directions. The private "little house" we stayed in was cozy and nicely decorated with a big comfortable bed. The view from The Casitas is beautiful. And if that wasn't enough, the breakfast they brought into our room both mornings was incredible! Everything about our stay was absolutely lovely.

We ended our anniversary road trip with a revisit to The Casitas. We first discovered this bed & breakfast from an article in Sunset Magazine. Arroyo Grande is basically halfway between San Francisco and LA so it was perfect place to stop on the way home. We stayed in the Mariposa cottage. It has its own patio overlooking the valley, a wood burning fireplace, a decent sized bathroom a king bed and even a flat screen tv satellite service. The owners are a delight and the husband fixes a tasty and complete breakfast that changes each morning. At night the stars are beautiful. The property has a pool and lovely walking areas. Arroyo Grande itself did not seem like a place to visit other than as a stop up or down the coast. San Luis Obispo is close with a larger selection of restaurants. The Casitas is a serene place to unwind and relax. The only downside is the cost for a B & B. Our room that we like was $219 weekday and $249 weekend.

Room Tip: Mariposa is a great room but we have not seen the others. Weekday is cheaper.

We had the pleasure of enjoying Tony's and Pat's hospitality for a one night stay during our recent trip through the coast from San Francisco to LA. Our only regret is that we only got to spend one night there and therefore not have the opportunity to fully enjoy the facilities and settings.

The casitas is a very small intimate B&B with only four "rooms" each with their own private patios where the gourmet breakfast is enjoyed. Such a a beautiful scenery and surroundings. The bed was also extremely comfortable and we enjoy a great night's sleep.

Excellent stay in every possible way.

We loved our stay at the Casitas! The setting can't be beat (amazing views of the valley) and our stay was unforgettable. Our hosts Tony, Pat and their adorable dog Kona took care of all of our needs and were a delight to be around. We don't typically like B&B's because of the lack of privacy....but here you have your own casita, entrance & patio and the option to have your gourmet breakfast on your own patio or in your room, which was perfect for us. We were only minutes away from the lovely towns of Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo...and many wineries in the Edna Valley.and ideal location for day trips to Paso Robles, Hearst Castle, Harmony (population of 18 but worth the stop), Cambria, Avila Beach and Morro Bay. We would highly recommend the Casitas and didn't think we could ever match our Tuscany holiday in a villa....but this is a definite rival!!! We will be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mariposa and our friends stayed in the Sonrisa....they both had amazing views of th...

Pat and Tony are fabulous and their casitas do not disappoint. Gourmet breakfasts delivered each morning, stunning views, great winery/dinner recommendations, pool, bocce court, privacy, beautiful accommodations, and excellent central location to take day trips either north to Paso Robles or south to Santa Ynez wineries. Could not have picked a better place... and there are quite a few amazing wineries right in Arroyo Grande that should not be missed.

We'll be back, but next time for a longer stay!

Room Tip: Rooms seem all fairly equal but the Sonrisa and Mariposa rooms probably have some of the better view...
