This place is not much to look at from the outside. It's set in a strip mall and has temporary signage all over the place. There are some tables on the patio out front, but it is on the main street so there is lots of traffic noise. A waitress was sitting at one of the tables smoking cigarettes.
I was pleasantly surprised by the inside. It was clean and decorated tastefully. On the downside, they where playing 80's pop music and there was a television mounted on the wall that was turned on with the news playing.
The menu is very extensive and well put together. I ordered the sushi dinner which included 8 different pieces of sushi, miso soup, and a small dinner salad. The soup was about a degree above lukewarm, the salad was fresh and served with a sesame-type dressing. The sushi was OK. It was cut crooked and kind of thick and some of it wasn't as fresh as it could be. The 8 pieces were all alone on a large plate, like they were trying to make it look bigger or something.
My wife had a Highway 101 roll. It was mediocre. It was kind of sweet and seemed to be overly presented, kind of like a person that wears too much bling.
This was my first time here and given that it has good reviews, I might go back to try something different. Hopefully it will be better.
