We have been to Outlaws (now called Overland Stage) many times over the years. They have made a lot of improvements, and the steak dinner is good food at an almost unbelievable price. Not sure why past reviews said prices were high...c'mon $16.95 for a top sirloin meal with an enormous salad, baked potato, beans, veggies and bread?! They have recently moved the dining area far away from the bar, and are playing soft music, no big screen TV any more. We think it is one of Atascadero's best-kept secrets!

This place appeals to the criminal type -- in fact a dude that murdered 2 college girls in San Luis Obispo was frequenting this place right up until his arrest & then conviction for murder.

"Outlaws" includes a "card room" for gambling, a restaurant and a bar.

I think you can decide if you like this type of place. We don't.

Been there a few times with mixed results. The hamburgers are almost (save once) consistently great. I tired the Prime rib for dinner a couple of times, once great, once tough, a third time… probably not. Toasters on the tables on Sunday mornings. Whoopee!!

Service is consistently sporadic, leaning towards poor. Drinks are OK, but not what you would expect for a wanna-be biker bar named Outlaws. For Atascadero, it’s as good as you get if you want a burger and a beer, but nothing to go out of your way for.

The cigarette smoke from the open center patio spills into the restaurant whenever anyone enters or exits (or leaves the door open), which can be often. If you are going to operate a restaurant in California and are hoping for repeat business from other than beer drinking bikers (and obviously that didn’t work out), you need to adapt to your patrons expectations and the law.

I've been there 3 times now (FWIW - my dad likes going there). Each time, the same results. They are trying to reinvent themselves as a proper steak house (instead of the redneck bar they used to be). They certainly have the prices of a proper steak house, but the food leaves much to be desired. My steak was tough. Someone elses ($45!) lobster was rubbery. The mac and cheese tasted like mustard instead of cheese.

I'll go there with my dad because he pays, but they won't be getting any of my money :)

On the plus side, the servers are friendly.
