If you are an aircraft fan, as I am, and you find yourself in Merced, CA, as I frequently do, this museum is not to be missed. Better get the printed guide to help.

This air museum is worth the drive. They have over 50 air planes and a nice indoor museum with some great artifacts. They have a DC-9 that was used as Air Force One by Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H Bush and Bill Clinton. They have an SR71, a B52 and other great and historical air craft. This is a good air museum. Well done.

There are lots of planes to see, some rare and historical. SR71, large bombers, cargo, jets and now Bill Clinton's Air Force One. It soon will be displayed at the main entrance. Also rated somewhere in the top twenty for being Californias most haunted locations (Google it). Bring a lunch because or find one of many local restaurants in Atwater. Water and sunscreen in the summer.

A place worth visiting especially for families with young children and even adults with interest on planes.

Lots of Vintage WW2 through the Jet age aircraft on display. Well worth the cost of admission and the do have a website that gives bio's on many of the assets. Just google Castle Air Museum.
