The Sierra Grill is an upscale coffee shop with restaurant quality food. The portions are large and they have a share-a-plate deal. A couple can order a full dinner and pay an extra $5 to share it, with each person getting his/her own salad, potatoes and veggies. We got the prime rib special and there was enough meat to take some home in a doggie bag.

The prime rib was tasty and the grilled veggies were outstanding, better than I've had in many high-end restaurants. Dinner came with a complimentary cheese fondue at the start of the meal.

The server was friendly and efficient and mentioned that business was slow because a Black Bear Diner had just opened across the street. We've eaten in Black Bear Diners before. The Sierra Grill has much better food at comparable or slightly lower prices.

Except for the fact that they used "air" "whole wheat" bread and processed cheese slices on their sandwiches, we thought the food was delicious. All the meat and poultry items are smoked in house. A turkey sandwich is just that - freshly sliced smoked turkey on freshly toasted bread. Their fruit salad was so fresh and had two kinds of melons, pineapple, fresh strawberries and blackberries. The cole slaw did not have too much dressing and was very tasty. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Worth the few minute drive off highway 80.

We were caught in a horrible storm in the Sierra at night and saw a welcoming light at the Sierra Grill, as we came down the mountain. We stopped, only to find out it was closed. One of the family members was there and welcomed us in. He not only prepared fabulous hamburgers, salad and French fries for us, but he insisted on giving us complimentary coffee. He even offered to dry our shoes. His hospitality and kindness were unmatched and so much appreciated on a cold, rainy night. His wonderful personality sent us on our way back out into the rain, but the warm feelings of appreciation and good food stayed with us.

This is an extreme value, especially when it's barbecue. They have a decent selection of meats, sandwiches, and sides. The ribs fell off the bone and the steak was delicious and seasoned well. I enjoyed the onion rings and can't wait to go back and try the brisket and chicken. If you want a tasty meal on a budget, this is a must try!!
