“Carpe Vino in Auburn”
Reviewed 1 December 2012

Dinner with friends at Carpe Vino last night was excellent. Duck, beef cheeks, mussels, meatballs, and caesar salad were top notch. As they are a wine shop as well, wines are sold at retail plus $5 corkage. Very reasonable compared to most restaurant prices. Their selection of wines is one of the the largest we've seen at any restaurant. Food and appetizers are upscale and very tasty. Service was outstanding. Their wine club is worth looking into due to the great variety and the special events offered members.

“Strange, Bald Waiter Ruined Our Meal”
Reviewed 10 November 2012

Horrible experience. The food was absolutely amazing, and our waitress was lovely, but there was this HORRIBLE guy, young, tall & bald, don't know his name, and he kept being really rude, bumping two of us over and over, just generally rude, upsetting, distracting. He actually tried to TAKE a purse away from the table so it wasn't in his way-I've never seen a stranger grab a purse like that that wasn't stealing something. I spent $250 and brought 3 people with me, and by the time he was done, I was so upset, I was shaking. We actually just stopped ordering things and left to get away from him. You couldn't get me to go back to this place to save my life and I'm going to tell everyone I know to not go there either. Not worth it.

Inventive, seasonal dishes, perfectly prepared. Lovely old brick building, but fairly high noise level.

“Strange wine policy......”
Reviewed 29 September 2012

If you purchased a glass of wine in the lounge it is typically $8 to $12 per GLASS. The waitress said to buy the bottle, of the SAME wine at $24/bottle, in our case, and you will be way ahead. I mentioned this to Gary but he said that is their policy. Guess they just want to sell wine by the bottle? Let’s see $8 X 4 = $32 versus $24 for the entire bottle…DUH! Check out their website/menu. Food is great but the wine policy is “curious” at best.
