Clean modern rooms, fantastic staff. The location, Starbucks coffee as well as wine and cheese half hour makes it well worth it!

My wife and I stayed in Catalina for the first time a few weekends ago. We did not know much about Catalina and were lucky enough to stumble upon Pavilion Hotel. Location is perfect, you can walk everywhere! The hotel is in great shape with a beautiful open courtyard where you can enjoy the wine and cheese hour in the evening, the free breakfast in the AM, our just relax and enjoy the wonderful Catalina views.
Overall a great experience and recommending this hotel!

The Pavilion Hotel is wonderful. There is a continental breakfast in the morning that is very enjoyable, candy and fruit during the day and wine and cheese at night. Comfy chairs and chaises for lounging and a fire pit to keep warm on colder evenings. The staff really takes good care of their guests, always available to help with tours or restaurant reservations and they deliver your luggage to the boat area when you leave. Best of all location, location, location,
Just steps to the beach.

Room Tip: The rooms downstairs have a private patio.

My husband and I wanted a close getaway from San Diego. I purchased a package with the Pavillion that included boat fare and excursions. The package exceeded our expectations. The hotel was convenient, staff very friendly and it included a tasty breakfast and happy hour with a good selection of wine and cheese plate. The rooms were clean, comfortable and mostly quiet. I liked the separate dressing area from the shower. Included was a flatscreen TV, free wifi, small frig and safe. The patio was very relaxing as we used it to wait for our departure boat and the wine tasting. The Pavillion landscaping was immaculate. We used 3 of the Discovery tours that came with the package. They were all excellent. We also spent one of our 3 days walking 11 miles on the Trans Catalina Trail. We did not run into any other people on the entire five hour walk. We surprised a Catalina fox that stared us down for disturbing his hunting of doves and watched the buffalo. The views from the mountain ridges above Avalon were spectacular. I mentioned that it was mostly quiet and after the long hike I slept very well. My husband said their were some party people outside making noise but that did not interrupt my sleep that night. I will certainly return to the Pavillion and recommend others to this convenient and restful spot.

Room Tip: We liked our room on the second level.

We recently stayed at the Pavilion Hotel for 3 days and it was a great experience. We booked the Unlimited package online and got not only a nice clean room, but also breakfast every day, wine and cheese in the afternoons, a perfect location, and as many tours and attractions as we could fit in our 3 days at no extra cost. We went on the semi-submersible and saw hundreds of fish, the scenic Avalon open trolley tour, miniature golfing (one of the best courses I've ever seen - beautifully landscaped with info about the island at each hole), a movie in the casino, admission to Descanso Beach, a tour along the "backbone" of the island to the Airport in the Sky, the glass-bottom boat tour, and my favorite, a sunset cruise to the isthmus where we had dinner and walked across the island to the other harbor. The best part of that cruise was watching hundreds of flying fish on the way back to Avalon. Incredible! The staff at the Pavilion were always cheerful and smiling, they held our luggage for us when we checked out the morning of the last day and even offered showers after the beach before we had to get the boat back to the mainland. It was a perfect trip all the way around! (P.S. There is no swimming pool, but I checked it by accident and was not able to uncheck it).

Room Tip: Don't bother paying extra for a downstairs room to get the little patio. There is a central law...

This is where my husband and I stay every time we go to Catalina. We've brought family there and everyone loves it. The location is the best in town and we love the fire pit and having breakfast together on the patio every morning. The people there are great. The property and rooms are very clean and well maintained. I would recommens this place to anyone going to the island.

I was a little nervous about booking my stay here as there seemed to be relatively few pictures on the internet. I can see why - it doesn't really look like much from the street. But it was really quite nice, and it's about the best possible location on the island. For those who don't know, Avalon is the only real town on Catalina, and this hotel is centrally located across the street from the harbor beach. There is a nice tropical feeling courtyard in the center, and a lovely fire pit area perfectly suited for enjoying a glass of wine and some conversation. The rooms are modestly sized, yet very comfortable and clean. We arrived early in the day, so they stored our bags for us until our room was ready; and then again from when we checked out until our 7:30PM ferry. A decent continental breakfast with Starbucks coffee was included.
