It's not bad. It's not good either, but it's not bad. It's easy to find, if you know the lay of the land already, but be warned your phone's GPS might be thrown off a little due to the road layout, but if you simply walk the waterfront from the harbor to the via casino bus stop, then turn left at the roundabout and walk up the left steep hill to the Avalon Hotel. Walk past one hotel too expensive for you to stay at, then take the staircase to the Avalon hotel, another hotel too expensive for you to stay at, to a rundown place nestled straight between all the hotels too expensive for you to stay at (oh, and that hotels attached marketplace which is semi-reasonable, and has the only vegetarian restaurant/source of hummus on the island). I called this place the roach motel on the trip, though to be fair, there were no roaches or other insects past the occasional housefly. One room has an ocean view. Our room had a view of another building's AC unit and part of the rock carved out to make room for the building, and some PVC pipes. The room's layout was disproportionate, and one bed was in the living room/kitchenette, against the wall shared with the bathroom. My room was a closet, literally. It was originally a walk in closet/spare room back in the days when the building was an apartment building. The rooms have names instead of numbers, ours was Catalina, on the bottom floor past a passage in carved out rock with a drainpipe running across it which made noise every time someone ran any water on any of the floors above. Overall, it's a good place to stay if your poor like me. But remember you get exactly what you paid for, not a penny more or less.
