Hi ! After years of visiting Catalina and suffering through worn threadbare hotel rooms ...we were really jazzed at the sparkle and beauty of our ocean view room ..We each had a very comfy "temparawsome" bed .. the view of the bay and Avalon below through the glass walled balcony was beautiful day and night.. refreshing to the eyes .... We were on the move non-stop swimming and skipping rocks on the beach and our standard 3 rounds of miniture golf followed by a session fishing on the pier....."I need a nap". My 10 yrs old son loved the state of the art coffee and tea dispenser in our room because it also made hot chocolate ..The room is compact , as is the bathroom ..but every inch is thoughtfully used..Robes and extra towels are already supplied ..Being an advanced "California born leisure king" I give the Aurora two thumbs up and a gold star goes on the forehead of those responsible for it's creation ...Sarah at the desk has the Catalina style aloha ... See you next time....5 Stars !

My husband took me here for our honeymoon (on a budget)! We loved this place! It is so nice, upscale and lovely interior! It is by far the BEST in all of Catalina! It is new, and the decor was posh and cozy. We had the corner unit with a balcony. We could even see the harbor from the balcony. The room is adorable, and it even had giant flat screen tv, and a luxurious tempur-pedic mattress, and super nice fluffy bathrobes. The continental breakfast is very good. Can yall please get a belgian waffle machine? That would be awesome?

The staff was super nice. Sarah checked us in, and helped us out alot. Martha even was nice enough to check us out 1 hour later. They made sure to store our luggage, and called our cab to get us back to the boat. Christina also helped us out. We greatly appreciated the friendly, and professional staff.

We even got some sun in private on the very lovely rooftop sun deck with panoramic views of avalon bay. This was way better than the super loud and crowded beach.

Next time we go back to Catalina, we are only staying at the Aurora! It is FABULOUS!

Set a block back from the heart of town, this newer property has the interior finishing details and in room fixtures of a trendy boutique hotel. Including, spa services, unlimited espresso beverages, high speed wifi, their own brand of bath products and tempurpedic beds. Most rooms also have private viewing balconies. We took advantage of the spacious sun deck with beautiful views of the port and harbor. A truly B&B touch for longer stay leisure travelers, the Aurora provides a complimentary DVD lending library and internet laptops. Kristin, one of the Innkeepers, did an amazing job of handling our water transfer to Catalina Island and accommodating a special request for an in room welcome basket. (Please note that this facility requires the use of stairs.)

Although we loved the design of the property, the price was way too high for what you get. This property is a cleaned up motel, with some nice design touches. And despite charging us nearly $400 a night, the staff doesn't seem to understand that when you're charging Four Seasons rates, you better offer Four Seasons service. We asked for a late checkout (1 pm instead of 11 am) and were summarily DENIED. Not in a nice way, either. The continental breakfast was a disappointment as well, with STALE pastries, no half and half and no Splenda. We had to go the local coffee house instead.

You'll be amazed once you get inside the hotel. The staff is really nice. The room has everything you would need. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, steamer, hair blower, bath robe, wifi internet, 32in LCD TV, DVD player, etc... It's very relaxing! We stayed more than usual inside the room. The view outside is very good as well. I got it for 499 for 3 days 2 nights and that includes catalina express fare and taxi fare tho the hotel is really close to the boat station. One of the newest renovated hotel in the island!

We stayed at the Aurora Hotel and Spa after getting stranded on Catalina for a couple nights after the boats could not get out because of rough waters. The service there was amazing and the people were pleasant to deal with. As you can imagine, we had nothing with us because we had planned for a day trip. They went above and beyond in helping us find phone chargers we could borrow, keeping us updated on the boat situation, etc. They even had a free laptop to borrow and free wifi.

The rooms are small but extremely modern and clean and space efficient. Modern new appliances - an amazing temperpedic mattress.

Would totally recommend on their excellent customer service and going above and beyond alone.

My beautiful wife and I decided to spend our 1st anniversary on Catalina Island and we found the Aurora Hotel to stand out according to reviews and pictures.

Booking the room was a little difficult. I called several times and left messages during their limited office hours. However, they did return calls that day or the following one and responded to e-mail.

Once the room was booked the rest was wonderful. The hotel was remodeled appoximately 3 years ago and had a new, fun modern look. My wife and I loved the interior design from lobby to our room.

The room was a very cozy, small space with a full sized bed which we didn't mind. They designed the room and bathroom very well and did a lot with such limited space. The television was a nice flat screen. The room was clean and in good order. The only fuss was controlling the temperature of the water when taking a shower. With a little practice and a fine touch we eventually got it just right. heh heh

There is also a nice sun deck where you can look over the buildings and enjoy your complimentary continental breakfast.

We had room 312 and it provided a pretty view of the ocean and the surrounding areas. Our room had a small balcony just big enough to step outside and breathe some fresh air.

The people there were very friendly upon arriving and were helpful and happy to answer any questions.

The location of the Hotel was also ideal. It is at the edge of town, so it isn't too loud. Restaurants, shops and lively bars are near by.

Happy trails and I hope you get to see some cool Bison ... we did!
