My family of 14 just spent a long weekend at The Avalon and were delighted with this excellent hotel. The rooms are great - good sheets and bathrooms and spectacular views. A lovely rooftop gathering place was good for relaxing at the end of the day. Wine and cheese at 4 and a continental breakfast were super perks. We liked having beach chairs and towels as it lightened the packing. The location is perfect, just off the main drag and all the fun of Avalon. Best of all were the friendly, accommodating staff. Laurie and Diana - you're the best!

We stayed in 306, which has an amazing view of the harbor and the surrounding hillsides. More than that though, the hotel is first class. They take no short cuts and do not scrimp on anything. From providing drinks and popcorn in the room (at no extra charge) to the top shelf toiletries provided in the bathroom. This is not the cheapest place in town, but it is worth it.

Room Tip: 306 has the best view, but is also the smallest room.

My 16 year old daughter and I stayed here for our mother/daughter get away. I could'nt have picked a better place. We shared a king size bed on the garden side of the hotel which was quiet in the evenings. You could look out the sliding door (though there was no balcony), and still see the ocean. However, if you wanted a great view, the rooftop patio was the place to be. We picked up food to go and ate on the rooftop two nights in a row. Their garden area below was a lovely place to sit and was where the complimentary continental breakfast was served. We took adavantage of the beach towels and chairs avilable for guest use for our days at the beach. Overall, the Avalon Hotel is wonderful place and I highly recommend it.

Not the cheapest hotel but WELL WORTH every penny! This amazing boutique hotel just off the main strip (which is ideal if you want some peace and quite and still want to be near everything.) Our room was spotless clean and probably the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. The views from our balcony were breathtaking and the rooftop views where we would eat breakfast has the best view in the city. The staff was beyond friendly and served our every need with enthusiasm and they made us feel like royalty the entire 3 days. In fact, we almost tried to stay a few more nights if we could have because we didn't want to leave this paradise. The continental breakfast is amazing in the beautiful courtyard by the fountain and fire pit. The wine and cheese tasting was awesome too. They are well-informed to make recommendations for dinner, lunch, tours, etc. and will take care of reserving anything you need. Truly awesome time and will absolutely return to this hotel!

Room Tip: The 2 rooms with ocean views are the best (although the priciest.) We had room 306, the "small...

After deciding to go to Catalina Island for a quick summer getaway, my husband and I began searching the Internet for a place to stay and found the The Avalon Hotel. After calling and speaking with Laurel about the hotel we ended up booking three nights. When we arrived we found The Avalon to be as charming and comfortable as Laurel had promised. We loved the beautiful Craftsman style of the hotel with all of the historical pictures and Catalina artwork decorating the walls. The outside has a wonderful garden with Koi pond where they serve a continental breakfast and the hotel also features a rooftop deck with a fantastic view of the harbor. Our room was also very cozy and comfortable with a small microwave and refrigerator with complimentary water and Snapple drinks. But what also made our stay a pleasant experience was Laurel and the rest of the staff at The Avalon. They were so friendly and always greeted you with a smile. Their suggestions of where to eat and what to see were right on. They truly made you feel like a welcomed traveler to the island. We know where we”ll be staying when we return!

Outstanding. Mid-priced hotel but we were given so many perks they are a generous bunch. lovely gardens to match the island, a rooftop to die for. sweet clerks and help. a beautiful breakfast served in the garden. very nice rooms. I could go on. Their Jasmine Wall knocked me over and over, their centrally located home away from home is just the thing.

Room Tip: all rooms are nice
