This was our third visit to the El Terado Terrace. We came to Avalon on vacation a couple years ago when we couldn't get the time off for an out of state vacation. This turned out to be one of the best decisions we ever made. Now every year we make sure to visit Avalon and the El Torado. The first year we stayed at a different hotel and were pretty disappointed with what we got for the money. Then the second year we came, we got a room at the El Terado for a much better rate. WOW! The first thing we noticed is that it was more like renting a condo or a house. the amenities were fantastic. Starbucks coffee in the rooms, Big flat screen TV's, Granite counter tops and full kitchens. This place has it all. The best part was the staff, they were so friendly and treated us like family. It was seriously like having your own home on the island. We will continue to come every year. We highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side have great views. Rooms on the west side are more secluded and quiet. I suggest the attached rooms if you have family.

El Terado is about as plain as it gets. Our room had no view, but even the rooms that do have views do not look out at much. Our room was dark, old and just not that attractive. There was a kitchen, with a very loud 'fridge to go along with all the other loud noises and thin walls. If there was a public area beyond a couple tables out front, I missed it. No breakfast or coffee (although there was a coffee maker in the room). I wouldn't ever select this place again, but if it is the only thing or cheapest thing available, you will be fine.

We only stayed one night standard room. The room was clean, big screen TV, had a little problem with internet but can say it was comfortable. As we were leaving they installed a new fridge and microwave so they are updating the property. The uphill was a good walk for us.

Room Tip: room 101 had sun in the afternoon while on the otherside the rooms had sun in the morning.

Attended our grandson's high school basketball tournament over the weekend before Christmas. Our room, which was like a studio apartment, had all of the goodies you would expect from a high priced property, including a huge flat screen tv, full kitchen, totally comfortable king-sized bed, upscale bath amenities, and even Starbucks coffee in the room. Great lighting in the bathroom for shaving or putting on make up. Check in and check out were a breeze. While the 10 AM check out time is a bit early for my taste, the hotel took our luggage and transported it to the dock for us so we could pick it up before we departed. Also, we called the property prior to arrival and they told us to take a taxi to the hotel and they would pay for it...what a fantastic service! The location was great, easy walk to all of the "action" in downtown. Found the hotel using Tripadvisor and got a fantastic rate!

This is an expensive little town and I felt we got a great value at this hotel. We stayed in room 106. Very clean room, SOME of the décor was a bit dated, but overall very, very nice room. Huge 55 inch TV (which is not shown in in their website), great working heater, fully operational kitchenette, clean bathrooms. The only downfall this room was a corner room so at night the lights we a little bright coming into the room. Perhaps blinds would have worked better than the curtains. Our view was so-so. We did have a small view of the harbor, but there was a vacant dirt lot and old barn looking type of a building right outside our room. If I ever got back I would stay here again.
