“Best Hotel I've ever stayed in. This should be #1”

I love this hotel. It is a quaint lodge type hotel. It doesn't have very many rooms (maybe 30 or so), so the hotel feels very boutique-y. The rooms are accessed off the main central area, which is bascially a big lobby/ sitting area with a fabulous tall ceiling and fire place. The rooms were very clean although not huge. No big deal though. There was a wet bar in the room with a fridge and small sink. We used this to prep and store our picinic food as we were visiting wine country. There was a nice little patio, which we didn not use, but it provided a nice big window for sunlight. There was a gas fireplace in the room. All you had to do was flip a switch to start it. The bathroom was the best part. It had 2 sinks (nice!) and a special makeup area in between with a bench. It also had a jumbo shower w/ big shower head and a jet tub (need I say more?). The only thing was accessing the tub. You basically had to climb into the tub, and the sides were quite high. Even for me at age 28, it wasn't the easiest thing. If you have any accessability issues at all, you might ask the hotel if they have a different kind of tub in another room. The room was updated with fashionable fixtures, carpet, tile etc. There was a dvd player in the room with DVDs for borrowing in the lobby. And lastly there was a trail that would take you to avila beach (about a 20-30 min walk). It's a really scenic nice walk through a golf course.

Room Tip: The only thing was accessing the tub. You basically had to climb into the tub, and the sides were qu...

Let me begin by saying I've written hotel reviews before but usually negative ones. It's rare when I'm moved to write a positive one but if ever a hotel deserved it than certainly the Avila beach inn does. The staff were super friendly and accommodations are perfect taking full advantage of the scenery. I went with my fiancé and the fire place and hot tub in the room were the perfect romantic touch. The bathrooms are exquisite and overall I just felt completely relaxed. My only complaint was that the wifi signal was a little weak but not that big a deal considering they have an amazing spa and gym. Definitely staying again and highly recommend especially for couples looking for a stress free, romantic getaway to the coast.

Spent 2 very pampered nites at the Avila Village Inn in late July/early August. Loved it's location (off the beaten path but not too far away from the beach/restaurants/etc.) and the perks that go along with staying there. Guests are able to visit the athletic club across the parking lot and use the pool, gym, spa, etc. Because we're not nor ever really plan to be the country club types, it was sorta fun to play the role for a few days. Our room was pretty dark - lots of tree shade outside our private patio which made for some restful sleeping. Staff was very friendly & helpful and the breakfast is basic continental which does the trick until you make your way to San Luis Obispo or elsewhere for a more substantial meal. Not a bad way to spend a few days on the central coast~

Just returned from a stay at the Avila Village Inn. Very pleasantly surprised with this property. Lovely craftsman-style details in the mouldings, fireplace, lighting, etc.

Room - quite large. King bed, wet-bar, refrigerator, fireplace, TV, small table and two chairs. The patio/balcony housed a jacuzzi and another set of table and chairs. I requested a room with a creek view and it looked out over the Bob Jones Trail and creek. There will be people walking by, but the Inn is set up a few yards from the path and surrounded by a wooden fence. People need to actually look up from the path if they want to see in your room. The jacuzzi is shielded from view by a metal fence with vines growing on it.

Bathroom - very large! Double sinks and a large walk-in shower where you could store your towel or robe without it getting wet. The fixtures and the tiling were both attractive. The only slight bummer was the large (I know, not necessarily a bad thing) shower head that really didn't have enough pressure to get through my longish hair, but oh well, what's a few extra minutes in a nice shower? Good tolietries too - body wash, shampoo, conditioner and lotion.

Grounds - don't be surprised when you turn off the main road and into the hotel area. You will first see a small, but tastefully designed, business park. It looks like a little town. The hotel also shares a parking lot with the Avila Bay Club AND you receive guest privelages to use this facility. It is very nice: two pools, tropical landscaping, variety of fitness classes, weight room, aerobic machines, tennis courts and a snack bar. Definitely worth a visit. And if the shower in your room isn't to your liking, shower at the club! If you need a quick bite (B/L/D) or a bottle of wine, Woodstone Market is just a short walk away.

Amenities - breakfast is fine. Toast, English muffins, bagels, juice, cereal, milk, coffee, fruit, etc. The lobby also provides coffee and water 24/7.

Close drive (10-15min) to SLO; 10 min to Avila Beach. Or...walk along the awesome Bob Jones Trail and be at the beach in less than 30 minutes.

I would definitely recommend the Avila Village Inn and can't wait to return.

We have stayed at this wonderful property on the Central Coast of California many times. The rooms are nice and well decorated. The lobby is comfortable with a fireplace and a stock of board games. We often come back from dinner and enjoy a glass of wine while we play Scrabble or Clue by the fire. The hotel is in an excellent location with lovely landscaped grounds. The athletic club next door with the pool is very nice. The Bob Jones trail is steps away and you can walk all the way to beach.

This is the second time we took our dogs and stayed in one of their two pet friendly rooms.

That being said, the maid service is bad. Both days our room wasn't cleaned until 3:30 or 4:00 pm. The bathroom was making a horrible gurgling, bad plumbing sound. We talked to the front desk three times about it, but nothing was done. It woke us up several times during the night. The mattress need to be replaced. We both had lots of aches after sleeping on it. The "included breakfast" is and always has been totally pathetic - instant oatmeal, Cheerios and bad bagels and muffins. How about some decent fresh fruit (it is the central coast), some yogurt and maybe a few hard boiled eggs?? Would that be so difficult? Woodstone's a few steps down the trail has a great breakfast selection, though.

Room Tip: They often have vacancies during the week.

This was out third time staying at the Avila Village Inn, and it won't be the last. We spent our wedding night here 5 years ago, and have come back since on some anniversaries. When we tell them, we always get a good rate. The rooms and beds are very comfortable, and the bathroom is large with two sinks. LOVE that. On our balcony, facing the woods, is our own private jacuzzi.

Every one of the staff is friendly and helpful. You get complimentary use of the next-door health club, which is very extensive - even two pools. Right outside is also the bike trail, and a mile and a half walk or bike on a beautiful trail through woods and a golf course to the beach. There is plenty of parking, and also a wonderful deli in the complex which is great - especially for breakfast on a sunny morning on their patio.

We love Avila Beach as a destination. There is a lot to do right there within a mile or two - hiking, beach, restaurants and shopping, farmers market and gourmet store, with activities for kids and a pick your own farm, and hot springs. You can't beat it for a nice weekend getaway.

Room Tip: Get the jacuzzi room and ask for the best rate. 2nd floor is best.

Stopped here on way home from L.A. Very nice place, quiet, beautiful lobby area, rooms with fireplaces and hot tubs. Access to pool, tennis courts, spa, etc. About a mile from beach so the price is probably 1/2 of what it would be at the beach.
