“Overall Not Bad”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

Was a nice place to stay; the wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary while there and made some good memories. We plan to return as it is close to the beach and not to far from Pismo Beach, Cambria, Hearst Castle and other places we enjoy. The place is surrounded by trees so there are plenty of birds chirping to take you away and put you in a better mood overall. Loved sitting with the sliding doors open or on the patio, drinking coffee, hearing nature and enjoying the fresh outdoor smell of trees.

The service desk was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the area and amenities. The room was clean, but a bit small and could use some updating (bathroom sinks and vanity have seen better days). A nice walk (1.7 miles) to the beach on a paved path which has a lot of signs telling you about the wildlife, trees, and surroundings. Definitely bring a bike, as rentals are $10 an hour and limited (first come first served).

Good variety of foodstuffs for the continental breakfast. No microwaves or coffee makers in the room, but they have coffee, tea, hot water, and iced lemonade available in the lobby all day and a microwave upstairs in the lounge area. (Brought my own small coffee maker fortunately).

Overall a very good deal for the price and most definitely better in my opinion than staying in town; which is cramped and loaded with young alcoholics all getting loud. (Remember this was mid June and kids like to party).

We already plan to come back, but might make it a bit later in the year as it is still cool and overcast at this time of the year; but then that has its advantages too, as it is not too hot.

This small property is a gem in the rough. A great price off Hotwire for a king sized bed with fireplace and balcony Jacuzzi. Amenities include use of club member only tennis and fitness spa along with breakfast. Close to downtown Avila Beach with walking trail and golf course. Wine tasting in Paso Robles is only 25 minute drive away.

Room Tip: Go on Hotwire for low weekday rate then upgrade room at property for $30 more per night

What a delight! We arrived for a relaxing weekend, and Janelle and the rest of the staff made us feel at ease and at home the moment we walked into the lovely Craftsman-style inn.

I'd read other people had trouble finding the hotel, so I planned my route, and it was no problem: it's about halfway between the 101 exit and the town itself, in a subdivision of sorts with a deli and other stores. But the inn itself feels quiet and isolated, surrounded by trees. A bike and jogging trail goes past; we left our car at the inn and walked the couple of miles to Avila Beach.

The center of the inn is a gorgeous two-story sitting room filled with comfortable seats. A continental breakfast buffet is served on the second floor landing. Our Deluxe Room with a hot tub on the balcony was great: comfortable bed, fireplace, huge bathroom, and the hot tub on the patio overlooking (but private from) the trail. Small touches -- trays on raised platforms outside each room, a DVD library, access to the health club next door -- made our stay that much more satisfying. The regular prices are... well, pricey, but watch for discounts and special offers. It's worth it.

This hotel is a great retreat with friendly helpful staff. It is nestled near the trees behind a small bunch of stores. It is very quiet and nicely decorated with the rooms encircling a living area with large fireplace. The health club next door was also great offering massages and babysitting! I would definitely recommend this to couples and families with older or quiet children as the noise can travel. Plus get the room with a private hot tub the kids lived the hot tub and it gives everyone some relaxation. Great trails to the beach right behind the inn as well.

Avila Village Inn

Great first Visit! We booked the Deluxe Hot tub Room...with trail view. The hotel is difficult to find...we had to ask an employee at the deli down the street.

Parking lot is ample. They have an elevator to make checkin with bags easier. Their is also a central staircase that goes down to the lobby and coffee area. The downstairs sitting area is nice with a huge fireplace. We were there 3 nights and they never had a fire going.

Comfortable big bed, extra pillows and blanket. Down comforter. Closet with luggage stand, ironing board and iron. Hair dryer provided as well as nice magnifying mirror. Robes provided. Towels were heavy, but I like them softer..I brought my own washcloth as well as beach towel that I used for the hot tub....I'm picky about towels. Bathroom was huge with deep double sinks and a very large glassed in shower. Wet bar area in bedroom with refrigerator and sink. They gave us a wine bottle opener, glasses were provided in the room. Nice gas fireplace...added warmth and ambience. Sitting area with 2 chairs and small table. We ordered barbecue delivery and ate it in our room...comfortable. We watched DVD movies provided at the front desk. Balcony had 2 chairs and small table and amazing hot tub. Trail view room is not private, unless it's late at night. The hotel and room were very clean. I loved the Craftsman style in decor. The whole trip was romantic and relaxing. I almost booked something closer to the beach, but the hot tub got me to look into Avila Village Inn, I'm glad I did! We will be back!

I'm a bit disappointed after years of staying here to see there was a flood and they have not replaced the water damage in the hotel. With toxic mold being a major health issue how could they leave it and it looks bad to see water stains aesthetically as well. I am hoping they replace this carpet soon. The carpet in our room is fraying too its a bit disappointing to see over time the upkeep not being done.

My husband, toddler son and I went away for two days staying at Avila Village Inn. It is so close to San Luis Obispo where we went to mass at the Mission and spent an afternoon at the wineries in Edna Valley that is a short distance away. My husband walked a mile to the downtown with our son while I was getting a massage next door. The employees were really nice, completely helpful to us. The room is spacious for our son's travel bed, our California King bed was huge and the fact there was always coffee available so close was helpful. The only complaint that I have is our fridge didn't have a freezer and while there was a microwave upstairs I wished we had one in our room. We have stayed here twice and I would definitely come back and recommend the Inn to others.
