Drove up on Friday, June 23, the day after getting married in Redlands.
We loved the Craftsman influence on the room decoration, with the matching oak furniture and light fixtures. The king-sized bed and large bathroom with double sinks and a huge sitdown shower added to our comfort. The jacuzzi on the deck, although not totally private, was used several times a day. Although an on-site restaurant would be nice, the Village Deli a few steps away had nice picnic-like food and a big selection of beer and wine. The continental breakfast on the weekends was a great way to start the day.
Found the service to be excellent and the staff was helpful to us. This is now our place to stay in the Central Coast area.

We couldn't wait to escape for the weekend for some R&R, unfortunately this new inn was such a disappointment!
The facility and room is clean, new, very nice!
The staff is terrible. There is simply NO service. The front desk folks were bad news, from misinformation to no information to unkind! (3 different ladies all inexperienced and have no clue how to help a customer.)
We were unable to sleep due to the noise heard from above (walking, flushing, talking, splashing)
We awoke early to view the continuous waterfall flowing down from above onto our patio. (front desk said, "it must be the folks above splashing in their jacuzzi."
Totally unexpected was the noise, behind the creek from the cars!!!
If you're inclinced to visit...don't expect service, stay downstairs, don't expect a quiet stay and don't expect food...which is no where on the property.

After reviewing their website, we were looking forward to our stay, expecting it to be similar to Sycamore Mineral Springs, which is nearby. The property is beautiful, with gorgeous Craftsman style architecture and appointments in the exterior, lobby, and rooms. The location is not the greatest, being in the middle of an office park, but if you want seclusion, you will have it here.

The furnishings and decor in the room was impeccable. However, the layout is awkward, with the TV in the armoire situated so that it was difficult to watch in both the bed and in chairs. You could not swivel it enough to see it well. We wound up dragging the chairs across the room and sitting in front of the fireplace to be able to watch.

For some odd reason, they have an auto-close hinge on the bathroom door, so you have to prop something in front of it if you want to leave it open to air out the steam. There was only one wastebasket, and NO luggage stand or dresser top suited for a suitcase. I wound up using the ironing board to put my suitcase on. There was no information binder in the room. The phone had a problem where the message light blinked continuously, even without any waiting messages. There was only one ice machine (second floor). They advertise an included breakfast, but they now only provide it on weekends (didn't sound like much anyway- only coffee and biscotti). I was not notified of this change when I made my reservation. The bed was pretty comfortable.

The worst thing was the dangerous hot tub on the patio deck. There is only one short step to get into it and no hand rail! We were forced to use the rail of the patio wall (not designed to support weight) to climb in. My husband is 6 feet and had trouble getting in and out. I cannot believe that this conforms to building codes for spas for public use. Sycamore Mineral Springs was far better, plus you fill the tub yourself so you know the water is clean when you use it. At Avila Village Inn, the hot tub is prefilled, and you really don't know if the chemicals were correct.

Avila Beach, California: The Avila Village Inn
"We are repeat customers - the setting is secluded, luxurious, and relaxing! Great spa on the deck, luxurious art deco furnishings, great beds, fireplace, spa"

We have just returned from a long lazy weekend at the Avila Village Inn. This is our seventh or eighth stay.
This hotel is one of our favorites; it is very different than most - definitely boutique! The decor is art deco craftsman - the rooms are angled which give an impression of spaciousness. There are chaises within the rooms, and each room has a granite bar and refrigerator.
We had a lovely master suite on the second floor - The living room has a lovely cuppola ceiling with floor to ceiling windows set in a bay window configuration with transom windows at the top that let in tons of light. The suite overlooks a green area with a gazebo used for weddings and parties. The property location is quite unique; some folks might find it bizarre and not worthy of the $319.00 rate but to each his own. The Inn is set back in a little commercial cul-de-sac and is off-the beaten path between Highway 101 and Avila Beach.
The main feature is the jacuzzi spa on the balcony - very nice. Don't set your hopes up for a beach view, though! The tub overlooks a mile or so long jogging path that winds down by the althletic club and golf course to the beach, but the tubs are somewhat visible from the path. (If you worry about Privacy)
Wedid some wine tasting at the nearby wineries, but just loved to luxuriate on-site, soaking up rays and enjoying the peace and tranquility of the hotel.
There is a cute litle lounge/bar area on the second floor and a minimalist continental breakfast is delivered directly to your door and set on a tray outside your door!
The management is attentive but unobtrusive. A deli/wine store is located within the complex and a tennis/athletic club is next door. The inn has a masseuse and a gym. A guest could literally stay within the compound!

My boyfriend took me to this inn for my birthday. The parking was right outside the inn and check-in took less than 2 minutes. Our room was nicely decorated, and my favorite part was the huge bathroom and amazing vanity and shower.
It was nice to have a refrigerator in the room to keep wine and snacks cool. The front desk offered DVD's to watch movies in the room at no charge. In the morning a lovely breakfast of granola, bagels, and coffee were delivered. The hot tub on our patio overlooked greenery. Be careful about being nude in the hot tub. There is a path where many people go walking just below. Otherwise, the perfect place to relax and sip wine.
It is closely located to wineries, nice restuarants, and it even has a bar upstairs. The gym is also very wonderful and we were the only ones working out!
Visit the deli to have lunch. It is very good. Pelican Pointe restaurant is close, pretty good, and has a wonderful ocean view.

We chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor member recommendations and were not disappointed. We ate dinner at Sycamore Springs Resort, which seemed to be crowded with more than just guests, and we were happy to return to the peace and quiet at Avila Village Inn. For the most comfort request an upper creekside room. They have a bit of traffic noise during the day but it cannot be heard at all when the sliding glass door is shut. Also, compared to other accommodations in the area this place offers the best value for what you get.

Having stayed at several establishments in the Avila, Pismo, San Luis Obispo area, we keep coming back here. Private, beautiful decor, lovely wine bar upstairs, near everything we enjoy (very short drive or bicycle ride to the beach), it just couldn't be better for us. I especially appreciate how clean the rooms are and how nice the beds and bedding are. Ask for room 201 because it has extra space with a nice bay window/window seats---but only if you aren't interested in the hot tub rooms. (There is no hot tub or balcony in 201, but the price reflects that.) The fitness room can't be beat and it is always empty!
One thing to beware of if you go there....do not under any circumstances eat at the Avila Village Market unless you are starving and cannot drag yourself anywhere else. The service was hostile and they could not keep up with the 8-10 people that were there trying to eat breakfast. More rude behavior from behind the counter than I have ever encountered...the cheese wasn't melted in the omlettes and they couldn't provide us with any forks because they said they were in the dishwasher! So we sat and waited until our server came out and basically threw them at us. Kind of sad because the place is really cute with lots of wonderful area wines.
