Alamosa , CO – the land of the Great Sand Dunes National Park, the Alamosa Wild Life Refuge, and the home of one of the greatest Breweries in Colorado, the San Luis Valley Brewing Company.
The San Luis Valley Brewing Company was recommended by the front desk hotel receptionist. What a great recommendation it was. They have a great selection of beers, and their food is excellent. The restaurant is located in a building previously occupied by a bank.
Their menu offers a variety of dishes, burgers, sandwiches, salads and variety of main dishes (fish, pork, chicken, etc.). I had a grilled chicken sandwich with Cole Slaw served on a brioche bun. The chicken breast was tender, succulent, and deliciously flavor. It was topped with lettuce, tomato slices, grilled onions, avocado, and provolone cheese. The Cole Slaw was creamy a correctly seasoned. It was a great sandwich. My partner had the Smoked Bacon, Cheddar and Mushroom burger with the hand –cut fries. The fries were excellent, crisp outside and soft inside. The burger looked very appetizing. The sauté mushrooms and onions were caramelized to perfection.
To top our meal, and at the suggestion of our server, we shared a piece of their layer chocolate mousse cake. I am not a chocolate lover; but I participated in the consumption of this incredible cake. The cake was moist, and the mousse was velvety and light. It was heavenly.
Their beers are carefully brewed, and their selection will satisfy every palate. We brought an assorted case of beers home. I should also mention that our server was cordial, friendly, knowledgeable of the menu offering, and the beers. She made our dining, and beer tasting a pleasurable experience.
