“A Wonderful Dining Surprise in Alamosa, CO”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Alamosa , CO – the land of the Great Sand Dunes National Park, the Alamosa Wild Life Refuge, and the home of one of the greatest Breweries in Colorado, the San Luis Valley Brewing Company.

The San Luis Valley Brewing Company was recommended by the front desk hotel receptionist. What a great recommendation it was. They have a great selection of beers, and their food is excellent. The restaurant is located in a building previously occupied by a bank.

Their menu offers a variety of dishes, burgers, sandwiches, salads and variety of main dishes (fish, pork, chicken, etc.). I had a grilled chicken sandwich with Cole Slaw served on a brioche bun. The chicken breast was tender, succulent, and deliciously flavor. It was topped with lettuce, tomato slices, grilled onions, avocado, and provolone cheese. The Cole Slaw was creamy a correctly seasoned. It was a great sandwich. My partner had the Smoked Bacon, Cheddar and Mushroom burger with the hand –cut fries. The fries were excellent, crisp outside and soft inside. The burger looked very appetizing. The sauté mushrooms and onions were caramelized to perfection.

To top our meal, and at the suggestion of our server, we shared a piece of their layer chocolate mousse cake. I am not a chocolate lover; but I participated in the consumption of this incredible cake. The cake was moist, and the mousse was velvety and light. It was heavenly.

Their beers are carefully brewed, and their selection will satisfy every palate. We brought an assorted case of beers home. I should also mention that our server was cordial, friendly, knowledgeable of the menu offering, and the beers. She made our dining, and beer tasting a pleasurable experience.

“Ribs, beer and fun”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Very tasty food and good tasting beer. Didn't get to experience the inside of the brewery as we sat outside to enjoy the warm Alamosa evening. Service was prompt and friendly.

“All beer is good”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

Started with the sampler "matt", then chose the Oatmeal Stout for my main course. The food was good, but beer was better! I had the "Red Chile and potatoes"..something I had never had and it was very good. Our waitress was most charming and helpful. The old location was very interesting. "I shall return."

“An old bank now a brew pub”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

This was an old bank and to showcase the vault, the pub turned the bank vault door around to show all the mechanisms. Large bar area and plenty of seating. Unfortunately, the night we were there eating, 4 loud men were at the bar and could be heard throughout the entire restaurant. Food was good. Plenty of fries with dinner. Hot right from the kitchen. Patty melt was delicious, as was the bacon cheeseburger. The bacon was especially tasty. We did not sample any of their brews, but prices were good. Once the 4 gentlemen left, the place quieted down and the atmosphere was much better. A good place to eat and relax.
