This is indeed a sanctuary with beautiful trees and plants, a walking trail along side a stream and places to sit and just take a deep breathe. This is truly "rocky mountain high" at its best. Next to the Sanctuary is a huge park for people and dogs, a skate board ramp and public restrooms.

I’m sure these mountains are awesome anytime of year but we especially loved it in the fall with the aspens glowing!

What a lovely place to visit - the gardens were amazing - lots of beautiful sculpture and stone benches with quotes inscribed on them to sit on. Well worth a visit!

Aspen made a great work to go along the stones and read his poems. My husbande didn´t know all the songs so, thanks for Spotify.

Really glad we stopped here. Take a stroll among the flowers and gardens of the tranquil site--with inspirational quotes inscribed in the stones.

The John Denver Sanctuary is nestled in the heart of Aspen, next to the Rio Grande Park, adjacent to Theatre Aspen's summer performances. Its location, near the Roaring Fork River, makes this an ideal spot for quiet meditation or a family picnic

I grew up with John Denver and cant believe he has been gone as long as he has. I remember the day his plane went down in the California ocean. It was a sad day! This tribute is beautiful. Talking to locals, they all say he was very involved in the city of Aspen. Even if your not a John Denver fan, visit this sanctuary, it's beautiful.

A must-see if you are in Aspen. A great legacy and natural setting for music artist John Denver 1943 - 1997

Looked up the top 10 things to do in Aspen and this came up and I'm shocked at how many people who live in the area or have visited Aspen from other states mentioned they have not been here! DO NOT MISS THIS! I could have sat and enjoyed for hours! It was a perfect sunshiny afternoon where the flowers were just gorgeous and the ponds mesmerizing! I loved walking the rock lined paths reading the lyrics to John Denver's songs as well as quotes from other notables! It was so serene, a place to just sit and let the rest of the world pass by!

I was somewhat skeptical but this is a "do not miss" when you're in the Aspen area! The location, design and visitor friendly atmosphere make it worth checking out...even if you're too young to remember John Denver. The song garden and the lyrics and quotes on the stones are timeless and apply to today. I was fortunate to see it in full fall splendor which made it even better!
