“Hidden treasure”

My husband and I were in Aspen last night. We asked the bellman, Chris, at our hotel for a recommendation for dinner. He suggested we go to Zocalito's Bisto. Chef Michael Beary truly brings authentic ingredients of Mexico to Aspen. His menu includes a definition of all peppers and spices. We had a shrimp and corn with melted cheeses tapas to die for.there specials are great.ambiance wonderful.

“Excellent Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2013 via mobile

We visited Zocalito just over a year ago when Staying at The Nell. We are new to Trip Advisor and are going through to post some of our most memorable experiences. After reading some of the other reviews we felt we should give our opinion. Zocalito is down in a basement off the path, but it does not feel this way. Is it an open air restaurant with amazing views, no, but it also isn't as one made it sound. The night we went was in the off season so it was slow as to be expected. The staff was laid back as are most in mountain towns not sporting a five star rating. We enjoyed the feel and loved the food and drinks. We will certainly be back on our next trip to Aspen.

“A little hole in the wall...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2013

Secreted in the basement in a small alley this little latin restaurant has the ability to be very special. On the night we dined here we felt the tortilla soup a poor value for $10. The sangria was tasty and so was the chile stuffed with chicken. We will give it a second try.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2013

The restaurant is in a basement and is well appointed - colorful.

The staff were distracted and not very attentive.

The food was very expensive & just okay. The ceviche was bleh, the sopes were okay and while the short-rib dish was good - at $24, it was a very small portion making it pricey even for Aspen.
