ALWAYS stayed at the Little Nell, but decided to try the St Regis. Glad we did, we REALLY enjoyed our stay. Lovely courtyard, very nice & quiet rooms, wonderful service. The only criticism is that we'd left the property at 9 am one day and didn't return until almost 3 and the room hadn't been cleaned yet--really a pet peeve of mine. Aside from that, we loved it and will definitely do it again. I even think my husband liked it more than the Little Nell...

We were visiting Aspen to go to a wedding over Labor Day weekend and chose to use our Starwood points -- a lot of them -- to experience the 5 star St. Regis experience. We had received a butler confirmation of our room prior to our arrival. The butler had asked for any special requests and we had asked that no down products be in our room as one of us is allergic to down. We had received confirmation that the down would be removed prior to our arrival. When we arrived, we asked the registration check-in person if that message had been received. She assured us that it had and that the down items had been removed from our room. When we got to the room, there were the down pillows and cover and nothing had been removed. I called the front desk and they sent someone up with replacement pillows, but no replacement cover. The person had a language barrier issue regarding replacing the cover, but brought someone with him in a few minutes to translate and then the cover was replaced as well. Not the special treatment that was anticipated. Additionally, why did the front desk person ask us which newspaper we wanted and then not deliver it any of the 3 days that we were there? The shower water throughout our stay was lukewarm at best, never hot, and took at least 5 minutes to even get to the lukewarm temperature; again, not a 5 star experience. While in Aspen, you do need to drink lots of water due to the altitude. We came back to our room twice to find that the maid had removed the water that we had placed beside our bed, so had to request that it be replaced. We are used to having things stay in our room if we do not place them in the trash/recycle bins. The water bottles were full and should not have been removed. The night before our departure, I asked the front desk person if there was a place to print our boarding passes as that is common practice in most hotels. The next morning on our way out, I asked the concierge if he could help with boarding passes and he was very accommodating and did print them as he had a printer at his desk. In summary, we used our starwood points for this hotel anticipating a top of the line experience. We were both very disappointed in our overall stay. The hotel was clean and in a good location and the rooms were adequate, but we would definitely not choose to use many points (or spend many $$) to stay here again. This was not what we anticipated from a St. Regis.

While the hotel itself was great, there were some issues which should not have occurred at a hotel of this caliber. There was no hot water in our room and even after it was supposedly fixed, the problem persisted. We were charged $50 per night for a cot for my young daughter but this charge was not relayed to us until we got our bill. Not only were we not notified, we felt this charge was excessive. Overall, the level of service was not up to snuff for a St Regis. We are Starwood Gold Members and were wondering if it is worth it!

My wife and I recently traveled to Aspen to visit friends and spend some time in the downtown area. My wife and I are both business owners and we both travel frequently. Between the two of us we probably spend around 150-200 nights per year in hotels. When we travel together it is most often for leisure and we most often stay at the best rated hotel that is available in the area that we are visiting. We were very pleased and optimistic when we saw that there was a St. Regis hotel in Aspen because we are familiar with St. Regis from a few of their other locations. What we saw and experienced at this hotel however was easily our most disappointing experience in the past 15-20 years. We stayed in their suite level room. When we arrived in our suite we instantly noticed a very strong sewer sort of smell. We thought that it was possibly the prior room occupants and that their pet had an "accident" on the carpet. We immediately asked for a different suite and when we described the reason why we wanted to move we were met with considerable attitude. They did however move us to a suite on the opposite end of the same floor. After a very short period of time we noticed the same odor in our new suite. We suspected that they are aware of this problem because we noticed that the room temperature control had the fan locked on the high fan speed. The suites were both corner rooms. We now suspect that this property had some sort of mold issue at least in these two rooms that we experienced. We concluded this after it rained one of the nights that we were there and after it rained the sewer type smell in the suite intensified greatly. The rest of our suite observations are as follows. The high speed wireless was actually quite good, the furniture was your typical uncomfortable mid level hotel issue, the all important bed was of only average comfort, the lighting was very poor, it had a nice shower that actually had hot water after only 3-4 minutes. The room had the usual robes and specialty toiletries. The plastic cups in the second bathroom were a nice touch. That actually was probably the hardest that we laughed during our stay in the room. I am sorry that we can not comment on the pool or the spa since we did not use these facilities during our stay. The staff was superficially polite but we both continually got the sense that there must be serious underlying management issues and employee discontent at this location. Since we were enjoying ourselves so much we elected to cut our trip short by one day. When we informed the front desk of this they were quick to snap at us that they had already charged us for the full length of our stay and that there was nothing that they could do. We actually didn't care about this too much but they way that it was presented to us was nothing short of just rude. Upon check out we were given a copy of their cancellation/early check out policy along with our statement that was supposed to explain the unused night's charge. This created more questions for us than answers. Mostly out of curiosity we called their 1-800 reservations number to clarify the reservation terms and were given a different opinion than what we received at the hotel. The suggestion was made to just call the hotel regarding the final night's charge and speak with a manager. We did this and the manager simply said that there was nothing that could be done. This was about the point where I decided to write my first hotel review....ever (at age 58). My wife and I are at a point in our lives where we can easily absorb one bad experience. My thoughts however immediately turned to the young couple that might be celebrating a special occasion, or the family that is taking a special vacation and I thought about what a devastating experience this could have been for someone that only travels on rare occasions. My simple advise based on what we experienced would be to avoid this hotel location. These are not quality people. If you must stay in Aspen try the Little Nell just down the street. They have recently remodeled and seem to treat people like people instead of trying to cover for their incompetence with snooty attitudes. Starwood, you should be very ashamed to have your St. Regis label on this property. A simple fix might be to just replace the St. Regis name on the building with your Sheraton brand. This would provide a closer match between people's expectations and what you actually deliver. But, then again, I would wager that this wouldn't be your best Sheraton Hotel either.

To escape the heat and humidity in the South of Texas I stayed at this beautiful hotel last month and had a great experience. I especially enjoyed the tranquil and relaxing pool and the poolside services. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Jennifer at the Front Desk was very helpful and caring, always cheerful and smiling.

My wife’s reaction when pulling into the St.Regis was, “You’re not serious?” This hotel will not disappoint. The lobby, bar and lounging area are richly appointed in dark wood paneling with plush leather couches and over stuffed chairs. It’s drop-dead gorgeous. The rooms are equally well appointed: sitting area with desk, comfortable bed with top of the line linens and oversized marble bathroom. The staff is flawlessly helpful and friendly. The service staff for the breakfast buffet, which was included in our online booking package (we also got the third night free), was especially warm and friendly. The selections for the breakfast included virtually everything you could possibly want—from eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast, assortment of fresh juices, cheeses, fruit, pastries, bagels, breads, cereals, plus the whole “schmear” for lox and bagels. No charge for parking the car in their garage during our stay. We normally don’t stay at a hotel of this caliber, so this was a real treat for us. This is a top-of-the-line hotel and I highly recommend it. Our dining recommendations for Aspen include the restaurants “Cashe Cashe” for fancy fare and “Little Annie’s Eating House” for casual dining.
