“Outstanding theater in beautiful venue”
Reviewed 6 August 2012

This summer I was lucky enough to see Ave. Q and How I Became a Pirate. Both were top notch productions. The kIds show was pitch perfect and the adult show had the whole audience laughing out loud. The theater's open air lObby is beautiful and is perfect for enjoying the scenery with a glass of wine before the show starts. I plan to enjoy many more productions there in the future.

“Great performance and theatre space”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

Theatre Aspen is now housed in a beautiful new permanent tent in a newly-designed park in Aspen. Although new, the tent is still a small venue (which is great). We went to Avenue Q. What a delightful, professional performance!! We LOVED it! We plan to return again this summer for 39 Steps. I would highly recommend this affordable and amazing entertainment. It is worth every penny!!

“First-class professional theatre in the heart of Aspen!”
Reviewed 28 June 2012

It's great to find out that there is excellent summer theater in the Rockies. Theatre Aspen has productions going on June, July and August in the much-enlarged Rio Grande park's John Denver sanctuary. The park has been redesigned and the setting is amazing - right in town yet you'll feel as though you're in a remote mountain landscape. We find Theatre Aspen's offerings to be consistent with Aspen's other cultural arts - i.e. superb. We just saw Avenue Q which is a hilarious and brilliantly performed musical and definitely adult-only. Families shouldn't worry - other shows like How I Became A Pirate and The 39 Steps are promised to be appropriate for all ages. Denver-area residents who may be experiencing summer theatre withdrawals will definitely find their fix in Aspen.

“A great regional theater”
Reviewed 13 June 2012

Having visited the theater on each of several summer trips to Aspen, I fully recommend a visit to Theatre Aspen. The company makes the most of its humble space with great acting. After days of hiking, Theatre Aspen is the way to complete a visit to Aspen.

“Broadway quality at 7,000 feet”
Reviewed 3 June 2012

This little gem of a theater serves up sensational productions every summer in the most intimate and charming "theater in the park" -- it's under a tent in the magnificently redesigned Rio Grand Park, a destination worth visiting to see the John Denver Sanctuary.

The theater is conveniently located in the center of Aspen with wonderful restaurants and easy parking near by. Curtain time is 7:30, except for the family shows which start earlier. As a local, I haven't missed a Theatre Aspen production in years, and given Aspen's world-class performing arts community (classical and jazz music festivals, ballet, and opera), that's saying a lot.

Every summer features three shows, usually a play (prior years featured "Dinner With Friends," "Becky's New Car," "Same Time Next Year," "Chapter 2"), a musical ("Little Shop of Horrors," "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," "Marvelous Wonderettes," "Love, Janis") and a family show ("Annie," "Seussical," "Frog & Toad"). The 2012 season features the musical "Avenue Q," the play "The 39 Steps" and the family show "How I Became a Pirate".

Whether you're a discerning theater critic or a theater enthusiast, Theatre Aspen presents Broadway talent (just peruse the playbill) at a fraction of the cost of a Broadway show, and in a delightful and enchanting setting. Run, hike, bike (like the rest of fitness-crazed Aspen) -- just hurry -- to Theatre Aspen!
