The grottos were a fun experience....huge boulders set in a pine forest with a roaring mountain stream. Good vistas and the cascades are a must view. Our kids went down in the ice caves more a ice caven....cool place to stop

Small area with a couple of trails not far from Aspen with easy access. The trail on the parking lot side of the creek goes to the bottom of a nice waterfall, the trail across the bridge goes up a little to the so called ice caves and the top of the falls. Good place for families to explore but not much for experienced hikers.

This was a fun and easy walk to the grottos. There was no ice in the caves when we were there...the stream was trickling. We were the only two by the grottos the morning we went, so we were able to climb all over and in them. Fun photos! Just past the grottos is a pretty waterfall. It was so nice just to lie on the smooth rocks beneath the waterfall and soak up the sun also feeling tiny splashes of water on your face. A good picnic spot. Not much parking here, but bathrooms available.

This was an easy, but spectacular hike. The rushing water and views were fantastic. But the "ice cave" is non-existent during the warm weather - don't bother scraping up your hands and shins to shimmy down there.

Explore the ice caves, hike along the best waterfalls on Independence Pass and have a picnic on the huge flat rocks in the. Sunshine. Good parking.
