“Stunning Views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

One of our favorite places to hike in the Aspen Area. Had to take shuttle bus to the top. Whether you take the short scenic loop or the Crater Lake trail you won't be disspointed in the views.

Make sure you have plenty of space on your SD card or on your iPhone or Android for the photos you want to take. Spring, Summer and Fall are great times to visit.

“Stunningly beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014

From the parking area, or shuttle stop, it's a fairly short walk through a wildflower meadow to the lake and gorgeous views of the Maroon Bells peaks. The lake is a beautiful spot itself, but the view of the Marroon Bells from the lake is stunning! The walk to the end of the lake is mostly flat and wide and is not long. At the far end of the lake is a sweet spot with a little bridge, a bench, and a beaver lodge.

The scenic loop trail starts at the top of the lake. It's a bit more strenuous and rocky, but easy enough for kids. It did have some muddy spots and small stream crossings. We suggest you take it clockwise. The first half of the walk will reward you with great views of the mountains, and the last half is through an Aspen forest.

If you want to hike a bit more, you can either head up to Crater Lake (about 3.5 miles roundtrip), or down Maroon Creek (about 1.5 miles one way, and the bus can pick you up there to either take you back to the parking lot or back to town).

“Breathtaking scenery and walking trails”

A great place to go for a hike or you can pack a picnic and spend the day around the lake...Hiking trails are plenty and well marked. Scenery is some of the most spectacular I have seen.

“Photogenic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Marron Lake and the short trail around it are one of the iconic spots in Colorado. A good place for families who don't get into the backcountry to get a taste of widerness. You could easily spend a nice morning or afternoon exploring the area. Very nice scenery but also crowded, go early if you can. I beleive Maroon Lake is one of the most photographed spots in the Rockies.
