Description: Say "apres ski" and most people picture something strikingly similar to Ajax Tavern - glamorous yet easy. Its sun-drenched, mountainside patio can be seen from halfway up the mountain - a simple target for lunch or cocktails. Arrive, and let the people-watching begin, there's no better seat in town. Located right next to the Silver Queen Gondola, Ajax Tavern is the hub for casual fine dining in an unbeatable atmosphere. The Tavern comes to life at lunch, and the party rolls on well into the night. If you go no further on the menu, try the truffle fries and Ajax double cheeseburger - they earned their reputation.

We ended the day here each day in Aspen. Great atmosphere to recharge for the evening with a little champagne or whatever drink you like. And wonderful people watching too! I also had a very tasty salad one afternoon along with the best fries ever!!

Après ski at its best. If you like to end your ski day at the bottom of the slope in a noisy outdoor patio setting with good drinks, loud music, lots of rich folks and good but pricey food then this place is for you(and me for that matter). Friendly staff in a fabulous setting. Be prepared to wait if you get there after 3 pm. Did not eat dinner there just soup and yummy fries and probably too many cocktails.

Aspen a Après ski starts here. Problem is it starts here for all. If you need to wait 45 min for a seat move along. Sorry the kitchen, just couldn't keep up. Raw bar and drinks were up to par but mussels and fries were off. We will return but no when packed.

We had a great meal at Ajax Tavern for dinner on a Saturday night during spring ski season. We had mussels and mac n' cheese for starters (the mac n' cheese probably should be listed under sides and not apps, but who cares - it was delicious) and enjoyed both. The mussels were plump and tasty but we all agreed the serving vessel - a pretty cool cast iron crock - was the wrong shape for being get to the liquid/borth at the bottom and dunk the bread they gave us in. I would suggest a wider bowl. Two of us had the crispy chicken and the third had the elk tenderloin and we all loved our entrees. As far as restaurant chicken goes, this is up there as some of the best and definitely a signature dish and worth ordering. We also got brussel sprouts with pomegranite seeds and another veg side that were great. The drinks here are pricey but to be expected in Aspen - but $20 for a glass of cabernet? Come on - offer a mid-price alternative! All in all, a great spot, the food is fairly priced, the drinks are what you'd expect in Aspen if not a bit pricey. We'd go back again for sure.

Great place, fantastic food and service. Gets really busy at lunch too. Lobster is first class. Wine list great too. Truffle fries are smelly but nice to eat.
