Description: Matsuhisa Aspen is nestled beneath a quaint victorian house in the mountain town of Aspen Colorado and features the cuisine of world renowned chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Japanese-inspired seafood and sushi, as well as an ultra-hip scene and lively bar crowd can best describe Matsuhisa Aspen. We are a continuation of Matsuhisa L.A., Nobu New York, Nobu London and may more locations around the world.

Visited the lounge/bar area, which shares many of the small plates with the restaurant proper.

Service was spotty, portions minuscule (this is well-known) and the sushi nowhere near top drawer.

I've had excellent meals at the Los Angeles branch of the empire. The Aspen branch appears to be trading on the reputation of the others.

“Close Captioned”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014 via mobile

The restaurant downstairs is very interesting. Like a cave carved out under a house! When we arrived at 8:30 pm the noise level was still reasonable but the roar increased substantially after that. We had to point for our waiter to hear our order. Service was prompt. There was no opportunity to ask questions. It would not have mattered anyway. Had our waiter heard our question, we would not have heard the response. Our food (softshell crab roll, spicy tuna, squid tempura) was excellent.

“Unique préparations well done”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

The atmosphere here is a little stuffy for me, one of those places it helps to be known by management as a regular. Otherwise the service is good, but you are treated as a tourist, which means a little abrupt. But the food is delicious and the preparation and presentation is outstanding. This is not our regular spot, but will be a special occasion choice as it is a little pricey

“Always the best..!”

I love to eat at Matsu when I visit Aspen. As you are being seated, the irashaimase greeting will cheer you up! Best Japanese cuisine in town with Nobu's unique twist. The menu downstairs has a bigger selection- the family and friends always make reservations as they are highly recommended, specially during ski and summer seasons. Service is flawless; request (Asian) David- he'll make you feel like a celebrity every time!

“Part of the internationally famous "NOBU" Matsuhisa chain.”

Best Japanese restaurant in Aspen great selection of Nobu's famous sushi and traditional cooked Japanese food. Don't be surprised to see ex-Presidents of the US and Hollywood celebrities here.
