Description: Aspen's iconic J-Bar (short for "Jerome Bar") remains the town's social hot spot, with its lively yet casual dining atmosphere. Ski bums, socialites, cowboys and luminaries - from members of the Tenth Mountain Division to the late Hunter S.Thompson gather at this authentic bar for an hint of the Old West. Sit down, relax, and enjoy a beer, vintage-inspired cocktails and light dining fare for lunch or dinner. And don't pass on Aspen's best burger.

So many people in Aspen recommended this place to us. We went in for a cocktail and the experience was terrible. We waited about 10 minutes to be served, another 15 to get our drinks - which were possibly two of the worst cocktails we've ever had. To be fair the barman was on his break so I don't blame him. Why the waiters thought it was ok to serve us such poor quality drinks I'll never know but would not recommend this place at all. We promptly left to get a decent cocktail at Jimmy's. Don't waste your money here.

This is a great place for a drink after exploring and enjoying Aspen. For sure, it is not the cheapest place to drink. But it is what the luxury Auberge Resorts imagines the old west looked like, if they had their kind of money.

This is one of our favorite places to eat in Aspen. The service is fast and friendly, and considering the other restaurants in town, it's a great value. There are several all-day, everyday specials including a burger, fries, and beer combo for $15.00. That's a great deal for Aspen, and it's a really good quality burger. The fish and chips special is also really good - fish, fries, coleslaw and a hard cider for $20.00. Again, great quality and great value. If you just want to drink, there's a beer/shot combo for $7.00. As I said, the waitstaff is fast and friendly. Frank is our favorite!

The J-bar was recommended to us by the front desk at the Hyatt Grand Aspen, and we were pleased with the choice. Two of us ordered the burgers (and fries), since they were highly touted. No disappointment there! I ordered fish and chips upon the waiter's suggestion. The portion of fish was quite generous, and accompanying fries and cole slaw were tasty. The cole slaw was nicely prepared with various peppers added into the cabbage and without a creamy dressing, which gave some variety and good flavor. Their draft beer list emphasized a variety of Coors beers, but they did have a few other choices like Guinness. There were a number of televisions around the bar area. The restored historic bar itself is worth a visit, since it originated in the 1880's.

Came here for a pre drink and prettier before going to Pinions. Ryan was our initial bartender and made us an awesome Mule and Manhatten. We ordered the Hummus which was a large serving, fresh and full of flavor. Ryan and Greg both took time to talk to everybody at the bar, all the locals and those of us visiting. We will be back if not on this visit on our next Aspen trip.
