“Sadly in need of an upgrade”

I stayed in a balcony room for two nights and was VERY disappointed. The room was tiny, with barely room between the walls and the bed to get into bed! The bathroom (toilet and tub) was cramped, with broken floor tile and dirty grout in the shower and on the sink counter in the dressing area. The carpet looked 30 years old, as did the telephone. The balcony was nice, however, and the bed comfortable. The continental breakfast was OK, with good quality bagels and coffee. The best that can be said is that the front desk personnel were friendly and helpful, and the location can't be beat. However, it was not worth what I paid for the room.

We stayed here for one night as part of a big tour of Colorado, Utah and Arizona. Denver is a trendy, expensive ski resort, and hotels don't come cheap, this one being no exception. Located near to designer shops and showy restaurants, but the rooms are tiny and well worn. Ours had a small balcony with views over other balconies and mountain beyond. The fridge in the room was noisy, and the room was very small, as was the en-suite (the vanity unit/basin is in the room, built into tatty base units). The complimentary continental breakfast had limited choice, but was adequate. On the plus side, ther is free parking outside and free wi-fi. It was great to see Aspen, but we won't be back!

Hotel Durant is a convenient 5 minute walk from downtown Aspen restaurants and shopping. It is located within a block of a large central park and such high-end resorts as St. Regis and Limelight Lodge. The staff is warm and friendly.

Our room was located on the second floor and had a balcony overlooking Aspen Mountain. It was clean and comfortable, albeit a little dated. The bathroom was small, but the shower area was accommodating. We stayed one night and the morning of check out, we sat for 2 hours on the balcony drinking coffee, reading the paper, and absorbing the view -- very nice!

The continental breakfast was spartan: bagels, orange juice, coffee, store-bought muffins, cereals, and Activia yogurt.

Overall, I would stay here again. The price and location are unbeatable.

The location is great for walking to town. The rooms are nice, but the bathroom was very small. We also had an issue with a dripping air conditioner. They offered to move us to another room, but we opted to stay where we were. Can be difficult to find parking places close to hotel, but that's true everywhere in downtown Aspen. The breakfast is fantastic and fresh.

We have been there for 8 nights and it was excellent, kind of perfect! Close to every places, great breakfast, just one block from a ski-lift and 3 blocks from the main gondola, the free bus that drives people to snowmass, highland and buttermilk stops at the Durant's door...amazing! I will stay there always....
The staff is very nice, helpfull and the owner Brian is a great person.
After ski time you can find in the hotel reception cheese, wine and cookies. There is a huge hot jacuzzi for relax after ski too....
The bedroom is small and could be redecorated but is perfect to be there anyway.

Our stay at the Durant hotel started with a great welcome from Brian Schaefer, who provided helpful information about the Aspen area. We had received information from friends about different restaurants that they recommended. Brian produced menus and circled the locations of the restaurants on a map. We asked him where he dines and he recommended a few of the places he frequents. We did dine at one of the restaurants he recommended and it was great. The restaurant was the L'Hostaria and we recommend that you explore the bar menu. The continental breakfast at the Durant was great and the scones were really good.

After reading some of the negative comments about the small rooms at the Durant, we elected to reserve a larger room. Before we left I had Brian show me one of the smaller rooms. After examining the room I felt the room would have been more than adequate for our needs and we could have saved some money. Speaking of saving money, I reviewed, on line, about 10 hotels in Aspen and called all of them for their rates. The Durant had the best rates.

The Hotel Durant offers friendly, comfortable B&B style lodging, tucked away in a peaceful safe setting in the heart of Aspen. There is free parking right at the door, which is nice to have in Aspen, yet a car really is not necessary as the Aspen gondola and the free skiier shuttles are an easy walk in ski boots, and the downtown restaurants and shops are within just a few blocks. By following the 1a lift line, you can ski to within yards of the entrance. This hotel is an excellent value, especially for Aspen as the local establishments are displaced by big corporations. Rhonda and Brian could not be more friendly, more generous, nor more helpful, accommodating hosts. There are always hot and cold beverages available in the lobby, free newspapers, a breakfast buffet in the morning, and best of all, warm chocolate chip cookies, cheese, crackers, and a selection of wines for apres-ski near the fireplace or the hot tub! This is a great place to meet travelers from around the world. The rooms are simple, comfortable, and include cozy comforters, bathrobes, and hairdryers. Some rooms have balconies with views of Aspen. I already look forward to my next visit and hope that there is availability!
