Stayed here during our first trip to Aspen and would definitely stay at this hotel again. Location is on the edge of town but everything is within walking distance so that was not an issue. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend a room with a private hot tub.

This was a spectacular place to start our trip. Easy to find, super friendly staff, beautiful rooms, great hot tub, and strawberry waffles in the morning to top it all off!

Great place to stay for the value and location. We were going to stay at the Hotel Jerome but couldn't get them to call us back so we stayed at the Hotel Aspen. The staff was very nice the room very nice. We stayed in a first floor room with patio and were able to walk out to the car no problem. The only drawback would be the small bathroom with the switch on the outside of the room so at night you have to wake up anyone else in the room when you turn on the light and fan. The breakfast was nice and considering how expensive Aspen is, it is nice to have it included. The location is within walking distance to everything. If you are a dog owner, bring them. The location puts you between 2 parks and lots of trails for walking. Wi Fi is included. We saved over $70 in a weekend by staying here rather than the Jerome and were just as happy.

My wife had a life threatening accident that required 5 hours of surgery and thus I called to cancel my reservation 24 hours before arrival. They could have cared less and charged my credit card $400 for the night I did not use. They even charged me occupancy tax, which Im sure is questionable. They might offer a nice stay for visitors, but this kind of attitude in this kind of situation lends insight into what management thinks about its customers. They should be ashamed. I am moving to Aspen full time and will certainly direct all my business elsewhere.

Dear Druebel,
We are very hopeful that your wife had a successful surgery and that she is recovering quickly. With all of our reservations we suggest that our guests purchase trip insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances when traveling.
We make this suggestion via our confirmation letters that go to each of our arriving guests. When our guests have to cancel, we make every effort to accommodate their needs and still retain the integrity of a cancellation policy, which is applicable in all facets of travel i.e. airline, lodging, car rental etc. We are very sorry about the inconvenient timing and we will make every effort to accommodate our guests needs especially in times of duress.
We did not receive any communication regarding extenuating circumstances, with a hospital note or other documentation we would be accommodating.
Regards,
Management

The best parts of Hotel Aspen were definitely the delicious food for Apres ski, and the great location near downtown and right on the shuttle line was perfect! The rooms are also top-notch, with a little entrance room for taking all of your gear off. I didn't know beforehand that the doors open to the outside, and thought it would be too cold, but it was nice to be able to walk right into my room without going through an entire hotel. Definitely stay here if you can!

Stayed here for two nights ski vacation with my brother. We paid 145 a night, which is a great value as it included breakfast as well as a happy hour buffet that included chili, wine, cookies, beer.

The room was big and had a small bar. The hotel structure itself was dated and did not have the best soundproofing, but overall was fine. Your door goes out to open air hallway so I was a bit worried on the security as the room has the old key style. They have a room safe to put your stuff in.

To get to the ski lifts you board a bus in front of the hotel. To Aspen it is about a 5 minute max ride. To get to the restaurants at night, you have about a ten minute walk depending on where you go.

Overall, a great value for the money and I'll be back!

I stayed at HOTEL ASPEN for a couple of nights in September 2008. I honestly did not know what to expect.. the reviews seemed mixed. Everything is expensive in Aspen.. this is just a fact that you have to be prepared for. HOTEL ASPEN seemed to be one of the few 'reasonably priced' places.

HOTEL ASPEN was 'okay'... far from glamorous, but functional and got the job done. If you are going to Aspen for a 'hotel and/or spa' experience, this is not the place to go. But if you are going to Aspen for an event outside of your hotel and you just need a place to crash, this place works.. especially if you are somewhat on a budget.

There were modern amenities such as a flat screen tv and ipod player, which made up for some of the not so great aspects.. such as the bathroom which was tiny and falling to pieces (the bathtub was essentially a nightmare). The building structure of HOTEL ASPEN was 'interesting'.. it was less of a solid building and more like a large trailer. It felt plastic and hollow like a modular home. That was a bit weird.

Upon first checking in, the front desk personnel gave me the wrong key. That was an inconvenience. Going up the trailer, going back down the trailer. Overall, it was 'OKAY,' but only okay. The beds were somewhat comfortable and things seemed clean. But not a luxurious situation by any means.
