The hotel grounds are beautiful. We walked pathways that included garden sculptures, a stream and ended at buildings that include a physics center and a venue that has concerts. Luckily, we happened upon a concert and could purchase seats or sit on the lawn and listen to a well known rock group! Wish we had time to use the free bikes to really tour the grounds. It is rare to have a hotel in Aspen with a feel of being in the mountains with no town traffic. The dinner at Plato's was delicious in a small setting with another beautiful view inside and on the patio. All rooms have floor to ceiling windows, a kitchenette and are very spacious. The staff was helpful, friendly and provide shuttles for the five minute drive to the center of Aspen or the airport.

This my second visit to the property and it is so expansive it's hard to see and do everything. Yes, it is a conference center but you have the outdoors and river all within walking distance make it feel like a camp-out but with luxury! Hotel Jerome and St. Regis give you a high-priced room and that's about it. Parking (no charge!) is about 100 yards (not 500 yards) from the reception area so it's not a big deal because when I go to Aspen I want to walk and enjoy nature. The shuttle leaves every 1/2 hour and will take you anywhere in town and Aspen Meadows is VERY pet friendly and my dog loved every outing and the outdoors was so close. If you want to sit in a hotel room and not be close to nature than this place is not for you!

Room Tip: Bike rental is FREE so grab one and pedal on down to Woody Creek Tavern and see where Hunter Thompso...

In all fairness to Aspen Meadows, I booked this place based on how Hotwire marketed the property. This is a conference center that is not within a normal walking distance to downtown Aspen. 2/3 of the walk at night is in the pitch black. The "hotel" is actually pods of buildings along poorly lit walk-ways with an exterior entrance to your room. The building steps were covered in bird poop and there were mold-type and other stains on the bathroom wall and ceiling. You also have to park your car in a parking garage that could be up to a 500 yard walk to your room. No cars allowed on the property. Check in on Friday had 2 desk clerks and a single bellman who doubled as the van driver. The bellman has to take you by cart from the desk to the parking garage then to your room. And if you happen to check in at the top or bottom of the hour there is a good chance he is driving the shuttle to town. The $21 breakfast buffet is no different than any $10-$12 breakfast buffet at another hotel.....except for the service which was HORRIBLE!! 3 people working and 3 tables with customers and you had to get up and ask for a refill on coffee????? If you are looking for a true "in-town" Aspen experience, this is not the place to stay. If Hotwire had been honest in their marketing, I would never have booked this property. I will never use Hotwire again and will stay elsewhere the next time I travel to Aspen.

Room Tip: The $21 breakfast buffet was not worth it. Bakery cafe on West Main was awesome and half the price.

Dear Skidaddy1969,

Thank you for sharing your feedback of your recent stay with us. I am deeply sorry for your negative experience and that you felt our hotel was misrepresented on Hotwire.com.

Home of the Aspen Institute, the Aspen Meadows Resort has a long history of hosting conferences and meeting events, dating back to 1949. The entire layout of the property was designed to unite the mind, body and spirit over our 40 acres and separated, Bauhaus-inspired buildings. Many of our guests often find the direct interaction with the surrounding nature and fresh air to be refreshing, relaxing and rejuvenating. Our space is not in the heart of downtown Aspen, and we regret that perhaps our location was misrepresented. We do, however, offer a 24 hour shuttle to and from the downtown core, making that distance a little less distant.

I regret that my staff failed to provide you with the excellence in service I know we can provide. I invite you to come and experience the Aspen Meadows again – I’d love the opportunity to show you what a tremendous property and staff we have here at the Aspen Meadows Resort!

We stayed at Aspen Meadows last weekend of March. Room price is very reasonable for Aspen (though I hear it costs more in the summer because it is very close to the music festival). You are slightly outside of town, but can be downtown in a minute or two with the shuttle. It is very peaceful and quiet. The rooms are large and modern with beautiful views of the woods (Bauhaus Style). Great walking/biking trail nearby. Gorgeous heated lap pool (3 dedicated lanes) and large hot tub with beautiful views. Health club has sauna, steam room and work out equipment as well as half-size basketball court. Very attentive service.

We stayed here while working at one of the $$$$ hotels in-town. Great value and great find! Spread out property in a beautiful setting with giant suites. The Internet speed was unparalleled! Awesome bartender treated us like special guests watching the entire Academy Awards, keeping us fed and "watered". Food was excellent too. Fitness center was great. All walkways were shoveled for snow early in the morning and the parking garage with heated ramp was easy in/out. When I didn't feel like driving into town, the shuttle was very nice!

My only dig on this place is that their furniture sales guy did quite a job. Edge banding was coming off even after lots of nails. There's a reason the big chains use granite and marble.

Very Eco-conscious place too.

This was my first time staying there. The rooms were nice, clean and modern.
Surround by beautiful nature and nice trails. I haven't tried the breakfast yet but I heard lots great things about it.
The price is not bad based in Aspen standards.

I historically stayed at Nell, St Regis, Hyatt . Last year ; I spent a few nights at the Meadows & doubt I will ever stay anywhere else .
Top service & Shuttles every 30 minutes make the 1 mile trip to the gondola or restaurants simple .
Great gym/massage building , 25 metre lane pool & jaccuzzi more beautiful than any other Aspen hotel . 93 room suites on 43 acre site .
Food excellent and breathtaking mountain views from dining rooms & guest rooms .
Bauhaus arcitecture with floor/ceiling glass in the suites give unspoiled mountain vistas .
Booked 40 days this year probably more next .

Room Tip: ask Meg Pius in reservations . LL's review !
