Stayed at the Aspen Meadows resort for three days during a conference hosted by the Aspen Institute. First time to the Aspen area and I was impressed. The staff was extremely courteous and the rooms were super spacious. My only word of caution is that in the summer, of course there is no A/C (winter resort!) so be prepared to open windows. The shuttle service was quick and easy to use, but the resort is also a quick walk to the main streets of Aspen for shopping and dining. I highly recommend taking a walk to the John Denver Sanctuary--a small park dedicated to the singer-songwriter.
If you meet Lance, an employee at Aspen Meadows--he's a great wealth of information and advice on best places to eat in Aspen and things to see & do.
Overall a great stay.

We stayed here without knowing much about the place and were pleasantly surprised at every turn. It was off season so it was extremely quiet - just a few other guests - and we liked that a lot. (It probably also kept the room price down, a word to the wise.) This is the home of the Aspen Institute and though we weren't here for that purpose there were subtle elements of the stay that tied back to that, e.g. the reading matter (the Institute magazine) and artwork in the room (some more thought-provoking images interspersed with the expected mountain views).

The room was more like a small apartment, extremely cozy and tastefully decorated. It included a solid, sliding wall that cleanly separated the bedroom from the living space, which was helpful since I'm an early riser and my wife is not. The included breakfast was tasty. Bathroom was quite nice and amenities high end.

The physical setting is lovely and peaceful - a small yard, then a field, then the mountains right outside our first-floor sliding door. It's an easy walk into town but they offer a free shuttle, handy if you want a glass of wine with dinner and prefer not to drive. There are some nice (easy) hikes starting on the property and some (more ambitious - try Smuggler) ones a short drive away. We appreciated being out of the usual downtown hubbub.

We have a dog (shepherd) and found the place very accommodating to our pet, including poop bag dispensers everywhere and permission to have him with us in the pool area (tied up of course). I would highly recommend this place for people looking for dog-friendly accommodations.

We absolutely plan to stay here again, assuming we can get the affordable off-season price in the future. It was a fantastic value for Aspen.

Room Tip: Ground floor was nice because of the sliding door access to the back yard and field. It was also co...

The blend of peaceful meadows with mountain backdrops, bright sunshine, shimmering yellow Aspen leaves, and classic Bauhaus architecture was perfect for our two early October nights in Aspen! We enjoyed the quiet of being just beyond the edge of town (about a five minute drive to and then no problem with free, 'between the seasons' parking in), the incredible views from our spacious suite with floor to ceiling windows, and the 'finds' around the Aspen Institute campus, such as a 'Bucky dome' and an Andy Goldsworthy serpentine wall. We ate dinner in town both nights but had the best Huevos Rancheros imaginable for breakfast at the resort. The only less than heavenly experience was finding that there was an additional twenty dollar per day resort fee, even if we did not use any of the offered activities, on top of our prepaid Expedia expense. Even so, if we are ever so lucky as to return to Aspen, staying at 'the Meadows' will be on the top of our list.

Room Tip: Ask for a room or suite with a mountain view!

Dear Walter P,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us this October and for the beautifully written review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed your experience at the Aspen Meadows and were able to take advantage of the tranquility of our shoulder season. Our mandatory Resort Services Fee can unfortunately come as a surprise, especially when booking through online travel agencies that may not express the policy as explicitly as we would ourselves. We’re so glad that it won’t deter you from staying with us again in the future!

We stayed there on 10/21/2013, for one night, it's a beautiful place, amazing rooms, the perfect place to stay until the painters decided to place a ladder from the ground to the balcony of my room at 8:33 a.m. and they were looking at my windows "to plan the job" while me and my family are getting ready to check out, extremely annoying. After breakfast at the hotel I expressed my concern at 10:58 a.m. to the front desk clerk, he apologized and he told me it was funny the painting company did that. I understand there's time for upgrades and remodeling at the resort, but how hard is to coordinate between contractors and hotel staff to keep the guests away from a situation like this? and who would think this is a funny situation?

Room Tip: don't go in slow season when maintanence is going on, they might disturb you

Dear Eliseo R,

Thank you for choosing the Aspen Meadows Resort for your brief stay in Aspen. I’m glad you enjoyed our accommodations but am of course, deeply disappointed that we fell short coordinating with the contractors. Thank you for your sharing your concerns. I have followed up with the contractors and my staff. We will do a better job managing the work going forward. I hope that you’ll consider staying with us again the next time you’re in the area!

Traveling is a hobby of our family. We have been to many resorts/hotels/B&B's. Our trip to Aspen was part business and part family vacation. The resort was chosen as the conference site for my husband's business. We really did not know what to expect. However, we find it refreshing to stay at different types of places. The Aspen Meadows Resort was a positive experience for our family.
The layout of the property is sprawled out with many activities available. Tennis, Biking, Hiking (there are many paths that are well marked and don't forget hiking shoes!) and the Health club. Depending on your unit location, it could be a long walk to the parking deck, restaurant or Health Club. We did not mind this as it provided a good opportunity to view the beautiful meadow, mountains and well maintained property. It also gave us some needed exercise.. The health club is nice but could use more treadmills. (one was broke while we were there, which left only one to be used) There were some other stairmasters and cycles that were usable. The pool and hot tub are located outside the health club with a beautiful view of the neighboring mountains and some beautiful mountainside homes. The health club is stocked well and clean.
One of the things that makes this resort different is the unit layout and room configuration. Our unit/suite was located at the farthest point but we had the most incredible mountain views through the large windows in our double bed room. The hallways are outside and subjected to the elements/nature which makes the appear unkept. However, I did notice the housekeeping cleaning the stairwells one morning. The rooms are large and spacious. The beds were very comfortable. There is lots of storage space which consisted of a large closet/shelves and drawers. The shower had good pressure and we loved the soap/shampoo dispensers located under the shower head.
The rooms are spacious but not sound proof but not many hotel/resorts are. The couch and chairs in the rooms are not as comfortable as the bed. We did enjoy coffee and tea provided in our kitchenette. The food at the bar and for breakfast were very good. We did not use the shuttle service but had a rental car. The distance to town was about a 10 minute ride. We did find that traffic could be congested even in the Fall. The resort provides a sanctuary from the town's busy ness. We enjoyed our stay at Aspen Meadows and hope to return to ski some day.

Room Tip: If you don't like walking, ask for a unit/room closer to Main building, restaurant, health club...

This is the best location for a wedding venue. Beauty and tranquility are abundant. Fabulous accommodations, food and service. We had a one bedroom mountain view. There was ample space to rest, eat and have guests visit. Unit layout is great. The bed was extremely comfortable and very cozy. There is a very small refrigerator and a larger one would have been convenient.

Room Tip: Rooms with a mountain view are more expensive yet all views are great. No elevators if you are on th...

I will list the things I likes and dislikes below:-
what I liked ?
1- the location.
2- the rooms, I booked a suite with a king size bed and a balcony. it is very simple and comfortable the furniture and the colors of the interior is just cool and relaxing.
3- the health club is awesome with a big outdoor swimming pool and a hot top too. the mountains surrounding the resort are just amazing and the views are incredible.
4- there is a free rent bicycles.
5- you can go to the river walking or with the bicycle through a trail.

what I didn't like is
1- the restaurant is very pricy although they don't offer much. it is just a standard breakfast.

just go and don't hesitate you will never regret it.

what you need with you
swimming suit (Coz I forgot mine)
a camera
babies will not be happy at all, I believe you shouldn't take any babies with you.

Room Tip: I booked a mountain view suites with a balcony . it is very big and nice
