Friendly staff. The newly redone pool is amazing. Great location. Easy parking, which can be hard to come by in Aspen. Good continental breakfast. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street.

I stay at the Mountain Chalet every October for the annual John Denver tribute week. The Melville family have always been very welcoming and I look forward to returning each year. The location is very central yet prices are reasonable. The breakfast buffet has a wide choice including home-made pastries and muffins warm from the oven. There are home-made cookies in the afternoon, and cofee is always available (on the house). The rooms are clean and comfortable and of varying shapes and sizes, as this is an older hotel that has been expanded and renovated over the years. The place has a lot of character, something lacking in the faceless chain hotels that proliferate these days. Highly recommended.

We found out Mountain chalet,Aspen thanks to Tripadvisor users so i'd want to help someothers travellers right now!
We had a nice stay here, but the first half night was a nightmare:bus station is round the corner so everynow you hear engines or voices, windows are so small that the air don't seem enough to breath(this type of room didn't have airconditioning) and beds are very old and so un-comfortable.
So at midnight i went to call the staff and they helped me to move to another part of the building into a modern aircondintioned room just for 16 $ more for 3 night stay.
The new room was great ,with balcony over St.Regis Hotel and mountains.
The pool is good, but is was a bit cold in June so it was hard to swimm.
Breakfast was so so but the old lady that serve it is a nice fellow.
Stay here,it's cheap clean! But stay far from rooms next the computers for guest.
Parking is free and in Aspen it is hard to find slot!

Loved Mountain Chalet. Right in the middle of downtown Aspen. Rooms were very clean and staff very accomadating. This was an older hotel but very comfy and cozy. I would stay here next time I come to Aspen without a doubt. Nice breakfast in the morning.

Most people think that they cannot afford to ski at the Aspen Colorado resorts. Not so. For those of us who go to ski and do some moderate budget socializing this is an ideal place to stay. There are clean, comfortable rooms in several sizes. A great hot breakfast is served every morning along with cereal, oatmeal, fruit and breads. The clientele range from seniors who have skied Aspen every year since the '60s to 20- somethings that cruise the apre-ski lounges of Aspen. Everyone is united by their love of skiing and staying at Mountain Chalet Aspen. Since our girl went to college, we rent the cheapest room, and it still has premium toiletries and a heated floor. We are already looking forward to seeing our international friends at MCA this December.

We ended up staying at the Mountain Chalet having been bumped from our original hotel which was overbooked. We were however pleasantly surprised by this hotel and loved its location close to down town Aspen. The room was very clean with lovely fluffy towels. The staff were very helpful and the continental breakfast was lovely. Being able to park our car in the underground garage was a bonus.
