We did indeed return as planned.
And this stay was just as nice, if not better. (The only thing that even could be "better" was the air conditioning, as everything else was as close to perfect as it gets last time, too, and... This time, the air conditioning remained wonderfully COOL despite higher temperatures in town.)
We'd like to thank Matt (I think we got that name right) and all of the other Bell Staff for their speed in driving us wherever we needed to go. Given difficulties adjusting to the altitude, this was a very welcome perk, and one that we carefully weighed when deciding to return.
To be able to have free and quick transportation to other areas of town, including to the Aspen Institute campus, is a real benefit of staying here.
From our few interactions at other hotels, we didn't get the feel that any other location would give the cheerful service we have consistently received here.
We still love the quaint decor.
(If you want modern, "it could be any city", decor, this probably isn't the place for you. This is *special*. The antique furniture and antique maps and prints on the walls are a welcome change. Everything is in excellent condition, not "run down" type of antique.)
The furniture was exceedingly comfortable, and the bed linens were amazing. Once again, better than what we've encountered even at other 5-star hotels.
This time we had a wonderful view of the big mountain, and wish we could see it in the winter, with the ski areas in use. But since we don't ski, we probably will continue to stay here in the summer.
Once again, we wish that there were COCA COLA products available at the Hotel, especially Diet Coke.
But it turns out the town of Aspen is in general a "Pepsi" town, almost everywhere. Fortunately, the drugstore around the corner carries Diet Coke, and we stocked up with bottles of Diet Coke from there.
(And the restaurants in town that claimed to serve us "DIet Coke"...? We aren't sure what it was, but it wasn't what any Diet Coke we've ever had tasted like.)
We plan to return here next year, again, of course.
