Econo Lodge Alachua

Stayed here for a dog show in Ft. White. Took us about 15 minutes to drive to the show.

The rate is way too high for the hotel. $69/night plus $10/pet per night for pet fee. For this type and kind of hotel I would have expected $39-$49.

There is very little grass for walking right on the property but a road behind the hotel is suitable for walking.

The interior is clean but getting old, carpet has marks and stains. We did have a refrigerator and microwave. Pillows are lumpy but then I never expect much from hotel pillows. The first night we had very noisy neighbors check in at 2 am.

I might stay here again because it is so convenient for the show but the price is really too high for what you get.

Room Tip: Back side of hotel is quieter.

During a recent trip to near-by Gainesville, I opted to stay in Alachua to be close to my sister's house. Knowing that the hotel selections are limited, I turned to TripAdvisor reviews to help me select a place. Honestly, none of the local hotels received rave reviews, but the Econo Lodge seemed to have fewer complaints. So, I stayed one night and that's all I could take. The room smelled bad - a smell I couldn't identify, but did not like (sort of like sweaty feet). The bed was fairly comfortable, but the sheets felt worn. The A/C worked well. The bathroom's tile floor was cracked and dirty-looking. The carpet was very stained and in need of replacement. The staff promoted the free breakfast, but the lobby is so tiny, you'd pretty much have to "grab & go". The staff was friendly and accommodating, quickly handling my early check-out and refund for the unused nights. The next night I opted to try out the Quality Inn right next door and found it to be quite satisfactory and even a couple of dollars less!

this is by far the most filthy and disgusting hotel ever! Dirty towels and sheets, floors have never been vacuumed, roaches, hair on the towels, plain awful and they know it! GM will refuse to give you refund and move you room to room, one worse than the next. Someone needs to shut this hotel down. It is a health risk for sure!

Room Tip: Don't ever stay here.

We stayed at this hotel one Friday night we had a reservation there through the weekend but had to check out early the room was so disgusting. The towels had holes in them they were a dingy grey color and the sheets looked like they hadn't been changed. We had to stay in the area for a wedding so we went next door to the Quality Inn and we had a much better experience. The staff was great and the breakfast there was a million times better than the one at the econolodge. Everything was so much cleanier. Needless to say we will never again make the mistake of staying at the Econo Lodge again.

Towels were stained and had softball size holes, the faucet leaked and would flood the counter, the shower has been caulked over about 10 times, the ceiling was chipping, the carpet and floors were dirty, the beds were the absolute worse, and the pillows were hard! The breakfast was pitiful at best! Everything is saran wrapped and looks like it is months old. The only thing we would eat was the waffles because we knew they were the most fresh thing there. However just like another reviewer one morning they were out of waffle mix and the employee was less then helpful. The employee looked like she was maybe the manager and she was so rude every day. Over all this was not the worse place to stay but we would not recommend this place due to the poor service and quality of rooms.

I'm a Bulls fan and stayed at this hotel while I was in town for the Bulls vs UF football game on September 11, 2010. We stayed at the Econo Lodge for 1 day / night on September 10th because there is no reason to stay 2 nights in Gainesville, FL since our game was a nooner.

All of the other hotels in and around UF require a 2 night minimum stay and this place did not which is why we chose it. The hotel next door was not an option because it is rumored that they have bed bugs.

The room did smell a bit moldy but once the air was on for a few minutes the problem was solved. This was the only problem that we noticed.

In all the hotel was quite, the staff was great, and we had a restful night. The breakfast was okay, just your basic hotel deal. The coffee was better then normal though.

We will defiantly stay here in 2015 when the Bulls come back to the Swamp to get revenge. Hopefully we will have a better QB by then. We almost won the game if not for our poor QB. We will stay here because its CHEAP and we don't have to book for 2 nights.

This is the best place to stay if you are coming in to G'ville for a game... lets face it you will be out partying and beering it up the night before and don't need a hotel for 2 nights. If we needed a hotel for 2 nights then we would of stayed at the Hilton or somewhere a lot closer to the stadium.
